Ich steuere meinen 3D-Drucker mithilfe von OctoPrint, welches als LXC auf Proxmox läuft. Proxmox hat dabei seinen eigenen Desktop, mit dem man auf den Webhost von OctoPrint zugreifen kann.
it gets really exhausting running around my house with a sd card to load up files to feed to my 3D printer. We have a creality wireless box thing we blasted with octoprint, but putting it on the network causes it to aggressively take over our entire network and pretend to be the internet gateway, effectively killing our real internet connection and idk how to fix that
As a bit of a #homeAssistant project, I noticed my old #RaspberryPi is quite near my 3D printer (basement) and it just runs a #Mosquitto#mqtt server. It has more capacity than that, so I attached an old usb camera, loaded #nginx and wrote some #Python to take a pic of the printer and stuff it into both a web page and a home assistant dashboard.
As both a #crew96 fan, and a #ClevelandGuardians fan, I was inspired by the print linked below to create my own sign to show my support for the Crew on my desk at my office at work.
So, I fired up #inkscape to make the SVG, and then #freecad to create the 3d model that I then 3D printed. I printed the yellow part separate and glued it in.
Here's my new webcam stand. This was supposed to be a quickie, but it took me four tries to print it. The delay gave me time to redesign it and make it a little better looking.
I filled the bottom with holes, and I can add as many M5x10 machine screws as I want for ballast.
So yeah, I've finally got Octoprint set up. I've only had this printer 5 years...
Just added an xtouch upgrade to the Bambu P1S. Amazing work. I’ve also supported the creator https://ko-fi.com/xperiments#3Dprinting if you have a Bambu P1S or P1P check this out and give this fellow $10-20 for a wonderful OSS project
@shanselman did you ever tried #octoprint? Because I thu k that would make the control at the printer a little bit obsolete. I use it for a couple of years running on my homeassistant and it integrates very well.
Tech question: I am just barely able to run things like #Octoprint, #OpenMediaVault and #HomeAssistant on a #RaspberryPI - would I be stumped trying the same kind of things on #Odriod, or is the difficulty level comparable (including available help at the end of a web search)...?
i'm finally running octoprint directly on my prusa mk3s+ via an installed/integrated raspberry pi zero 2 w and octopi. the hardest part was finding and buying the zero 2 w—thankfully they have been showing up in online inventories lately—and the 18mm breakable header. (i also had to hunt down the zero 2 w frame pattern that is a slight remix of the original frame—not linked because there might be some licensing issues in play.)
I've just thrown a little bit in the pot for #OctoPrint, given the number of users of the software hopefully it won't take more than a modest donation to keep the project gong. If you use it please consider donating, a fraction of what you spend on consumables will keep the development going. https://octoprint.org/blog/2023/10/26/we-need-to-talk-about-funding/#3dprinting
The fact that you paid for your 3D printer doesn't mean that any of that money reached the developers giving their time to create and maintain the software it runs.
The rule of thumb is that if you use free open-source software, please consider sponsoring the developers and maintainers of said software.
After I have successfully flash the #Marlin Firmware on my #Ender3S1Pro I tried the 10x10 Unified Bed Leveling feature and visualized it in #Octoprint Bed Visualizer
First attempt was already okay, second one got worse, no I am running the third one but taking 100 probes takes some time 🙂
I made a quick dashboard in #HomeAssistant for my #3DPrinting activities. Right now it just has a couple graphs and buttons from #OctoPrint and a button to turn on and off my filament dryer with a timer.
Has anyone else done similar? Any good ideas out there I should incorporate?
Is there any reason not to look at the Creality Sermoon V1 Pro 3D Printer? I have a CR20 Pro and it's driving me insane - I can't get the bed leveland I can't get the z height sorted out. I just want to use it as a tool, I don't want to have to spend half my life tuning and fiddling with the thing. If not the Sermoon, anything similar? Bamboo labs P1S is too spendy. Creality have a deal on ATM just over £200 for the Sermoon
@ScaredyCat You'll have problems with TPU on all budget machines and ui wise grab a cheap raspberry pi clone and bang #octoprint onto it, then you have a nice web interface and access to a nice plugin ecosystem.
Yeah, having the printer on a smart plug that can turned off remotely is an absolute necessity. I have also set up automation that kills power when temp around the printer crosses a threshold, and send notifications (via Home Assistant of course).
@stooovie@moira Using a smart plug is my only option because my Ender 3 Pro doesn’t have a software off switch. I use a PSU plugin on #Octoprint that talks to #HomeAssistant and turns off the switch after certain mins of idling.
Since we just had issues with a #Discourse upgrade AGAIN on the OctoPrint community forums (the admin team is trying to fix things up as I'm typing this), does anyone here have experience with migrating from Discourse to #NodeBB by any chance?
Seriously considering a future move right now. We've had nothing but bad experiences with their "official supported way" of doing a self-hosted setup, and I feel really bad for the admins.
@foosel More than happy to be kept in the loop. Since #OctoPrint is open source we may be able to help you out with migration at cost (or cover completely with hosting, but I imagine you want to self host?)
Upgraded from ASUS RT-AX58U to TPLink AX-73. I don't want to hear it. More antennas, snappier interface and better wifi throughput. I said I DON'T want to hear it, ASUS fans. I've had three ASUS routers shit on me in the last eight years. Time for a change.
In the process, checked clients and realised my plucky little #Raspberrypi3 running #Octoprint is still connected, despite not having printed anything on it for like a year or so. Updating to Octoprint 1.9.2 now. Man these things are solid and dependable, run forever on zip electricity.
