"There are a lot of people who viewed All Systems Red as a cute robot story. Which was very weird to me, since I thought I was writing a story about slavery and personhood and bodily autonomy. But humans have always been really good at ignoring things we don't want to pay attention to. Which is also a theme in the Murderbot series."
Casting announcements for #Murderbot are encouraging. Also they give hints about where they're putting their focus. Of all the PreservationAux team, Gurathin's the one Murderbot understands the best & distrusts the most (funny how that works), so I guess that could be a good place to put focus.
OTOH they really better nail casting on Mensah.

Read SYSTEM COLLAPSE by Martha Wells if you love grumpy murderbots, annoying humans, trauma narratives, corruption corporations, saving those in peril, drones, watching media, using storytelling as both a technique for persuading as well as healing, and fixing the broken bits.
I’ve built this little webpage
a few months ago to present together some of the work I did and help me find a job: https://emontheinternet.me
But, I am still uncertain about which drawing profile would be best for this, if any 🤔
I have not built this webpage for myself so I need external opinions. Your opinions (boosts welcome for reach) :boost_ok:
Which one of these
profile pictures do you think would work best on my webpage to find work? Or perhaps it would be best not to put any? What do you think?
Keep in mind that ✱
I am not targeting large corporations with that. I am aware my website doesn’t fit the “LinkedIn” style. But which picture do you think my favorite public-interest and/or privacy organizations would like the best? 💚👇❔
(read alt-text to see each picture' number)
EDIT: I added a poll below for people who prefer to vote without commenting. I could not include both a poll and pictures in the same post 📥👇
@Em0nM4stodon and I am not attuned to the demands of remote work. The image that popped in my mind was a tall athletic woman on roller skates. Substitute boombox for headphones and you’ll know what era I grew up in.
Then I thought of #MurderBot ... flip the helmet up, activate walk like a human mode. But if the environment requires shades down, then it is perfectly acceptable. Although sit like a human might be more complicated than walking like one.
System Collapse, by Martha Wells. You are a sentient construct that can pass as human, but you really don’t like humans much (other than their TV shows) but nonetheless endeavor to keep them from dying at each other’s hands in the f***ed up world they created. 4 of 5 library cats 🐈 🐈 🐈 🐈. ‘Murderbot’ Readers Baffled Over Casting Choice for Apple TV+ Series - TheMarySue
"Readers of Martha Wells‘ bestselling Hugo- and Nebula Award-winning series The #Murderbot Diaries are baffled by the decision to cast The Northman actor Alexander Skarsgård, a cisgender man, as the titular genderless android in the upcoming live-action adaptation from Apple TV+"
So if I want the original book covers I'd best buy them all soon lest they be redone to: 'Now A TV show!' ?
Thx for heads-up @tishkova -but what the FUCK is this casting, #appleTV??!
Utterly atrocious choice.
Murderbot should be enby or queer at the very least, cis man is at the literal bottom of the list. It's not even on the page. It's a accidental scribble on the table.

Apple TV+ has officially picked up Murderbot, a 10-episode sci-fi drama series starring and executive produced by Emmy winner Alexander Skarsgård (Succession). Based on Martha Wells’ bestsell…
Not going to hop on anyone else's #Murderbot TV show threads to harsh their squee, but I have some disappointment in what I've seen so far.
Murderbot is an incredibly agender character. There are so many nonbinary actors out there, I feel kind of upset that they chose a cis, gendered actor for the role.
He also seems way too white. Names like Ratthi, Gurathin, Pin-Lee, and Mensah make it clear there are a lot of POC in the Preservation Alliance — in fact, it sounds standard. 🧵 1/3
The announcement and discussion about #Murderbot feels like one of the past writing prompts about having one's books optioned for a TV series put into practice 😅
I rather doubt the author had any kind of say over the casting, and I'm delighted for her that she got optioned because she really deserves it.
Hear me out: Murderbot is coming to the screen. In the books, the “feed” is a big part of all the conversations. So for the show, they should have a scrolling text pane somewhere on the screen showing the feed including MB’s private grouching. Next level: have the main shot be MB’s PoV with all sorts of apparatus and read-outs and multiple little drone-view screens and so on.
There could be chaos in the audio too, jumping into or out of feeds mid-sentence, muting ART out of annoyance, dull conversations overlaid with stored media. It might be a bit overwhelming to watch :D
