While I know that most of the #minecraft community in the Fediverse plays Java, here’s something new from Microsoft… a Bedrock Editor just released last month. I’m going to check it out later. @minecraft
@GayCookie I suppose Microsoft can try, but it’s easy to convert my students (to Java!). Honestly? My # 1 recommendation to ALL parents is that they should NEVER buy consoles or other devices for ‘gaming’ but always invest in a PC laptop first for their kids. #minecraft@minecraft
i didn't play #minecraft at all between 2015 and this year. i don't like ALL the changes they made but i like most of them.
the one thing that bothers me most is that you can't put clocks on walls anymore. wtf!
i'm not really missing the advanced world generation options betause i mostly used them to make biomes slightly bigger and i think they actually made them larger by default now? but it was nice to have those options and now they're gone, meh.
the "keep inventory" option OTOH is really really good for frustration–free playing.
i also like all the new structures and biomes and treasures and things to discover.
i'm mostly happy with the fact that water can now be in the same block as some other stuff... but since the torch trick doesn't work anymore you now have to carry DOORS underwater which is a whole new experience
not sure how i feel about copper yet. difficult to find any use for it and mostly it's just fucking ugly
but the mushroom lights. THE MUSHROOM LIGHTS. i am in love
Part of "Hohenzollern Castle and Kingdom" rendered in IOLITE. Realtime GI is set to two bounces for diffuse. Specular uses a mixture of skylight occlusion plus screenspace information. Performs better than expected on my laptop, given that the chunks are huge and the BVH is basically bypassed.
All made possible by @juulcat and @dougbinks and all their hard work put into importing Minecraft maps in Avoyd and the recent option of exporting to MV's VOX files.
@bwrensch@juulcat That should be possible to do, I'll have a think about the UI. You could also use our open source #enkiMI (enkisoftware #Minecraft Importer) directly, though we have added alot material handling in #Avoyd on top of that.
I have come to the conclusion that I absolutely hate Create, the Minecraft mod. It is so fucking cumbersome, and too 'realistic'. This won't work, too much friction, not enough power at source, too fast it'll overheat! And then trying to figure out the 1000 cumbersome ways just to get a fucking gear rotating.
I WANT MAGIC BOXES! I grew up with Applied Energistics and Thermal Expansion machines. That's what I want. Not a gajillion rotating things in my base that takes up the space of the whole base itself! And if something doesn't work, you gotta disassemble everything and then reassemble everything! Oh fuck that!
For those who say 'Git Gud', I've managed before to have ComputerCraft interact with the Create Crafters so I can autocraft shit. BUT I HATED IT! I don't want to mess with gears and shit. I want to be ... PLAYING the actual game, you know?
Kupiłem moim dzieciakom #komiks ze świata #Minecraft i czytaliśmy teraz razem. A tam taki niespodziewany wątek :) Co ciekawe, młodzi nie zadali ani jednego pytania, przeszli nad tym do porządku dziennego i fabuła poszła dalej.
In real life: I hang out with my school's student theatre club, the RIT Players. I like #improv, #cycling, #racquetball, #transit, and traveling. I love my family.
Supposing its time to create an #introduction post.
My name is Nick and I've been living in central Ohio the past few years. Currently working in food service.
Have plenty of IT support experience as well, but found I enjoy computers as my hobby instead of a career.
okay, hello, hi, so happy to have found a place where I don't feel terribly out of place talking about things like how I totally wrecked a Genji while playing Kiriko
After two years of lurking, I think it's time for a proper #introduction.
I'm a software developer from Italy, I love #Python and #Django. I'm also some kind of #sysadmin, I maintain a wide range of services for myself and my friends, including a #nextcloud instance, a #minecraft server and this #mastodon instance.
My current #minecraft WIP - a nether themed storage room. 480 barrels in the main storage, plus 60 more for overflow. Personally I like the look of barrels better than chest, plus with using the Simple Backpack mod, my overflow can handle an additional 27 double chests per column.
