A fair bit of train(s) rides this morning - to get to #Yuasa in #Wakayama
Will grab lunch first and then some walk around. Original plan was to spend a couple of days - perhaps in Shirahama but the cold wasn't too helpful for the beach or camping so just a day trip #Japan#Travel #DasInYuasa

Why not? Got some #sake as well - Nihonshu please, and said yes when the lady asked if we wanted it hot. Came in lovely water bath tokkuris with the cups as lids (is there a name for this ? @YamaguchiSake )
Good sake too! (Meant to but forgot to ask brand)
Most terrific and satisfying lunch.
Plenty of tea as well and with sake was just over 6K¥ - spectacular
Truly ごちそうさまでした。 #Japan#Food#Travel#Wakayama#Yuasa
#lunch 2/3
The #sashimi was terrific - came with fresh grated wasabi root too and terrific soy sauce.
The raw shirasu (which we had had as nigiri in Tokyo some weeks ago) came in a plate and to be added over the rice in the set - and we were told there was fresh ginger to mix in to a bowl of soy and poured over (+ nori).
Everything here was super o-ishi - including the Oden pieces (daikon, chikuwa, tofu; in center). #Food#Japan#Wakayama#Yuasa
@dancinyogi I'm on the fence. I have some spinach tortellini leftovers but I had them for dinner 2 nights ago and then yesterday my stomach was a mess, but I don't know whether to blame them (or the sauce I had with them).
So I guess I'm trying to decide whether to conduct another lab experiment on myself.
If not, I dunno... pita and hummus? TJ's fried rice? An apple and peanut butter?
(now you've made me realize I am hungry, which makes sense, since it is 12:30 here)
I’m expecting to lose weight this week: my wife is #cooking since I can’t use my left hand/arm. 🤣
You know that couples communication/patience exercise where one person is blindfolded while the other gives instructions? That’s what it felt like in our kitchen this weekend. It went exceptionally well tbh, but extremely time consuming. Only one burnt meal so far!
For this work week, we bought chicken fingers, fries, fish sticks, canned soups and lots of similarly easy-to-make meals.
Some pan-fried & steamed dim sum for #lunch today, this time mostly me over-exerting myself in the kitchen with minimal help from @michellemenjivar. (Ouch! Lesson learned, for now…)
Looks way better than it tasted. At the store, all I read when we bought the dumplings was “pork flavour” but when we got home, we saw that they’re actually #vegan dumplings. Vegetables are delicious on their own, why do you need to try to simulate meat flavours? The dumplings were gross in both taste & texture!

I ordered things from two different places and the delivery people arrived at the same time. They then took turns checking each other out during the byplay of our respective transactions, flirted in my driveway for 10 minutes, and exchanged numbers.
Made myself some fried #asparagus & #Teochew style soy garlic fried #porkChops (cut after cooking). Eating them with steamed jasmine #rice. Today's #lunch in a bowl.
As I prepared some noodle soup for #lunch today, I was reminded of this spicy turkey miso #ramen I made with Christmas leftovers last month. You know it’s good ramen if it sparks memories a whole month later!
I also remember it was a lot of work; just #cooking the turkey broth alone took several hours, but you could definitely taste all the effort! #food
