A really interesting article on the rarest DMC colour, DMC 724. It was the perfect gold colour, and was licensed exclusively to Disney to colour winnie the pooh in branded cross stitch kits. #crossstitch#embroidery
I'm discussing with someone which #lace pages in #Wikipedia need the most help (a lot of them do), but we got totally sidetracked looking at Lady Scudamore's outfit...damn. And huge respect for Gheeraerts' talent for painting lace. His page...whoa.
The dragons progress. The red tongue, white teeth, and eyes are done. Next is the black pupils, nostrils, and "eyeliner." Then, I start outlining both dragons.
There's a place nearby that works with #textiles, #sewing in particular, that proudly hires #disabled and otherwise marginal employees that I think would be a nice place to start when I have my visa and can look for a steady income.
But my sewing skills are still very amateur, and I haven't used a sewing machine since I was ten or eleven.
So... I would like to buy myself a #sewingmachine, and some materials for practicing the #craft.
The machine I've got my eye on is 140€, which is a good price but more than I feel safe spending at once right now. I've got some uncertain medical bills coming up and would very much like to not run out of savings because of it.
So! I've started a new goal on my #kofi page and would appreciate some boosts!
I'm passively asking for donations but encourage requests. I want to work! I'll embroider something by request without sending you the physical object for anywhere around 10€, as a cheap option. 3€ if it's very simple. Any other ideas, things you'd like me to do, just hit me up. I'd really like that sewing machine! 😸🤌
Just completed a small gift to say a big thanks to a colleague. This floral sprig is from the 1796 Lady’s Magazine and was originally designed as a sprig repeat for a gown or apron. But I rather like it on this cotton handkerchief. #ladysmag#embroidery#georgian#needlework#fiberarts@fiberarts
Finally finished my four seasons #Olympus#Embroidery today. I'm pleased with how they've turned out, particularly as these were my first attempts at embroidery.
Beige = summer
Pink = spring
Brown = autumn
Blue = winter
I finished it today! So technically Kaveh’s version is the reverse side without the heart-like part on the bottom but I’m just going with the “he put it on backwards” headcanon with my cosplay because this side is pretty and I’ve made my pronouncement 💕
Needs a wash and frame still but it was sitting on my shelf unfinished since last pride so it was nice to finish it finally. A wash in hot water will fade the grid from the fabric.
Yaaay my 50mm cabochon arrived and I got started on making it dendro (the Genshin grass/ plant element). Should be finished with the entire thing by the weekend and I’m excited because it looked really nice when I propped all the parts together as a draft
NEWS: Here is a page put together by Knitty, supporting the many vendors and instructors who just got screwed by the sudden bankruptcy of Stitches. If you are planning a purchase, buying from one of these folks will really help them out.
💞🧶🙏 A great big thank you to @knittymag for pulling this together! 🙏🧶💞
#upcycling#sticken#embroidery#Handarbeit
Pale blue linen gauze scarf with embroidery I made using deep greens in simple embroidery for flower stems and then white silk ribbons in various sizes to make the petals, with yellow cotton thread to make french knot centers. I drew the flower scene free hand and used Sulky Tear-Away stabilizer which worked great. This photo is the fabric doubled - it's quite sheer and delicate so stabilizer was a must. Thx for your advice when I was working it out. #embroidery#silkribbon
