I'm spending wayyy too much time on deciding which microprocessor to use for a one-off toy #embedded#RustLang project. It bothers me if I use a too powerful chip, but also I want DIP just because I'm not confident enough soldering surface mount.
Leaning towards STM32 (L0 specifically--I need low power), since it seems to be most mature in Rust.
Opening the interface and updates on Git.
I suggest you see a slice of the LoraType interface, based on E-Ink 1.54 in partial update mode.
Just recently we got new screens from GoodDisplay with increased refresh rate, speed is the most important thing here.
The main items are: general chat, individual chat, communication setup and general settings. We invite you to discuss, we are open to opinions
By the way we have OSHWA UA000004 #loratype#embedded#uiux#esp32#lora#eink
💻The next Nerves embedded systems meetup is Wednesday, May 31th! Join Eric Oestrich for an overview of what's coming up in NervesHub 2.0, a web service for Nerves firmware updates. RSVP here:
what would Forth look like if it didn't assume the same memory model as C (or at any rate, BCPL)?
...and yes, i know various standards bodies have tried to redefine both worlds so that they don't start from a standard assumption that there is a single address space which is addressed using a range of consecutive integers, to varying degrees of abject failure
@millihertz since #forth was made for being #embedded and has always been based on a philosophy of simplicity and #minimalism, I dont think they could have realistically used a more complex memory model :)
Time for the #introduction post. I’m Vlad, a functional human being that is currently working on a proprietary #distributed querying #SQL system, mostly written in #scala with a small bit of #rust. I used to tinker with #embedded and #homelab things before the pandemic and haven’t quite gotten back to it yet. I’d like to post some more #functional programming content, perhaps some #photography and definitely a few #shitpost about politics or the lame state of software engineering in companies…
With the sudden influx of new users, time for another #introduction.
I'm an azure-winged magpie living in #China doing #embedded software development for #PublicGrid monitoring and testing tools. Unlike most of my #ElectronicEngineer colleagues, I am a 100% #software nerd with just enough #hardware smarts to be dangerous. I design embedded #frameworks and #libraries that my colleagues lack the foundations to do create. I chiefly work with the #STM32 line of #MCUs.
