"The [2018 United Nations General Assembly] resolution for World Bicycle Day recognizes "the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transport.""
Every April for the past few years I’ve undertaken a project I call Operation Active April: get out and do 30+ minutes of aerobic activity every day for a month (mostly bike rides, #Zwift, and runs). This is the first year I’ve actually seen it through for all 30 days despite [challenges].
Friends, I’m tired. But I also feel fantastic and a little proud. I went from barely being able to run 5 km to being able to do 10 km without much effort.
This Strava statistic cracks me up. Being a rock, roots, single track mt biker I never accumulate all that many miles in a year, so getting a trainer after the September surgery and “zwifting” regularly has really changed things up.
It's been pretty difficult for me to stick to my training routine which has been the same for a long time:
At least 20km running per week
Outside 4 times per week
Gym 2 times per week
This week I had one 10K run outside, one 5K walk, one workout at the gym and one 5K on the gym threadmill. Now that I have written this, I still beat myself up that I didn't do enough. I should try and give myself some slack.
