You ready to hear about some #OPM (other people's music)? I'm going to try something different this week and add all of the music I'm covering in one thread, with the blog containing slightly longer versions of all of these linked at the end. LMK what you think of this format.
A pair of fairly different tracks show two different but complementary sides of Paul Griffin’s work. “Fat Wren” is jazzy and swinging, with a flute-like synth line and some pretty arpeggios draped over upright bass and breaks. “Caught” is a spacey ambient track with the expected hypnotic arpeggios and low end drones – easy to get lost in, if you so desire.
This is the eighteenth and final studio album by Jon Hassell. It was released on his own record label, Ndeya, on July 24, 2020 and is a companion piece to his previous release Listening to Pictures.
As promised, here's some free download codes! First up, a baker's dozen codes for my #psychedelic#scifi post-industrial electro-dub concept album Psychedelic Ghost Stories.
Then you can slake your (audio) thirst with a long, cool drink of Metaphysical Shitposting, a woolly, loose-limbed journey thru #kosmische, #ambient, #noise and #soundscape. #Experimental and #weird but always a delight (I hope).
Same deal, listen & redeem the codes via the link at lower right
I've updated Growing Fins with a handful of playlists ranging from Ambient/Electronica to classical/new music (featuring @womencomposers ) plus some indie darlings new and old.
As there is a new aboombong album of #music out soon, I am revisiting previous releases.
After the success of collaboration on articulations, I decided to continue the trend with the 9th aboombong album, AGNOSIS. This time I reached out to a friend I met while working on my PHD., Lana Van Boven, a trained #opera singer, her husband Brian Shaw (#flugalhorn), who is a music professor, and an old bandmate, David Liso, who I have been in several bands with. Pulling from ancient texts/music, deconstructing them, and the rebuilding them, AGNOSIS ended up exploring the connection between classical traditions and modern music. A rewarding project. #4thWorld#ambient#piano#choral#experimentalMusic#bandcamp
I was a bit bored today and thought I'd record a few sequences while playing on my synths. Nothing special, just messing around. The bass comes from the Poly-D, arps from the M32, drums from the DFAM, and a Drone + Pianoteq from Bitwig. I havent saved it, just a throwaway jam.
my song "Sumi" has been released yesterday, it's the first track of my Fysen EP and is a bit different to my other music. Hope you enjoy! https://lehto.bandcamp.com/album/fysen-ep
Released in 1998 as part of the group's acclaimed album "Mezzanine", "Teardrop" features ethereal vocals by Elizabeth Fraser (formerly of Cocteau Twins). Its haunting melody, downtempo beat, and harpsichord elements made it an instant classic. The song became iconic through its use in the TV series "House M.D."
