🆕 blog! “Review: EgoFit Walker Pro - an under-desk treadmill”
★★★★⯪
My doctor told me that sitting at a desk all day was slowly killing me. So I purchased a standing desk adapter. Then my doctor said I ought to take better care of my feet. So I purchased a massaging foot mat to go with my standing desk. Now my doctor says that I need […]
Desperate to hold onto their ever-shrinking workforce, but still unwilling to walk back their ignorance and lose face, Dell management thinks, “hey, let's screw our healthiest, most productive employees using whatever leverage we have left,” is the way?
What if you could own a stylus enabled Windows 11 Laptop, that was ALSO a Linux PC, and it was ALSO an Android tablet, and it cost less than an iPad Air (with keyboard), but had twice as much storage as the iPad AND you could upgrade its SSD when you needed more space?
It's my first time working from a co-working space today, like a proper digital nomad 🏝 I wouldn't mind doing this more often :) #remote#remotework#wfh#spain
Some Amazon employees will be forced to relocate to fulfill a company policy requiring three days per week of in-office work, according to sources speaking with Bloomberg.
#WFH increases #workers autonomy, as they're not under constant potential surveillance & work to their own arrangement(s); Managers feel threatened by this avoidance of direct control;
data on WFH seems to indicate workers are happier when hybrid working than when in the office full-time; whatever, they say, managers prefer fearful workers who're easier to manage
Atlassian have been studying the experience of their employees and that of other companies as they work remotely. They feel they still have things to learn but they have released their study. #wfh#RemoteWork
In brief, they have found so far:
~ 92% of Atlassians say our distributed work policy allows them to do their best work.
~ Representation of women has doubled in certain geographies
~ 91% say it’s an important reason why they stay at Atlassian
Still searching for a budget-friendly ergonomic mouse for #MacBook. I'm starting to get dizzy reading/watching so many reviews. 😆
I haven't used a mouse in 6 years. But now I think that it will help improve my #WFH setup, especially since I'm planning to elevate my laptop so that the display is eye level.
Hence, I need an external keyboard and mouse. But is there a mouse that can support the trackpad gestures - without breaking the bank? 🤔
Speaking of Bi things... I'm currently using an extra dining chair in my office, which is killing my back and makes my legs sad. I think I'm finally going to treat myself to this gloriously queer office chair.
Oh, boy. We're heading back from the #UbuntuSummit, but you don't need a transatlantic flight to get a transition ritual before you check that work inbox, or after you close it for the day. Take a walk, make some tea - just take a break from the e-mail! It might sound weird coming from us, but trust us on it. 😉 💙
We'd love to hear your favorite transition rituals and virtual commutes - or what you do to make a commute to an office better! 🚶 🚋
But perhaps, pragmatically recognising their #technology doesn't solve all office communication issues, like other firms they've decided those water cooler, shared-lunch moments do help the team.
I wonder how many of the MS Teams team always #WFH?
The guy who occupied the table next to you in a coffee shop has a really STRONG perfume (the annoying kind). And the air flow is from his side to your side. So you're really taking it all in. What do you do? 😷
> Across industries, U.S. work from home roles have shrunk by a quarter since 2021, new data from software firm Ringover finds.
> Forget the fact that nearly every expert insists that flexible work arrangements—guided principally by employee desires—are the way of the future. Disregard, too, the fact that many workers insist they’re more productive working from home—and more likely to feel empowered to do their best work under a boss who allows them to work where they want. And pretend you don’t know that return-to-office mandates are near-universally reviled and lead to rapid retention issues, bitter company culture, and swelling resentment—with worsened productivity to boot.
Folks, I'm starting my post-#PhD job search low-key on the side while I write up my #thesis.
I have an odd collection of skills - #Linux, #Python, #Jupyter, #pandas, #DevRel, and I've done a lot of work in team leadership and management, and have led a multi-million $ not for profit in the past. Keynote speaker.
I'm looking for something that harnesses all of these skills - and it will be a senior role with senior pay, given my experience, qualifications and proven capability. I have time and will be discerning about my next step.
Job titles that might fit here would be Senior Research Engineer, Engineering Lead, Lead AI Engineer or similar.
Looking for fully remote work, with one day a fortnight max in #Melbourne, AU. If you don't believe in #RemoteWork or #WFH, we're not a good fit.
Super keen on something full time rather than splitting my attention over multiple part-time roles.
Looking to start around August, so a fair amount of lead time.
Keen on organisations that have strong values alignment - #FAIR and #CARE data use, #EthicalAI, AI for social good.
