Two years ago, Putin started a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Some predicted that it would fall in a matter of days.

Instead, the Ukrainian people have proven the power of fighting for something.

Putin made a mistake because he cannot understand what drives a human spirit when it is free to think and dream.

He cannot understand that if you give people a choice, they choose liberty.

Ukraine chose to fight for its freedom and a better future.

And Europe will be with you.

@EU_Commission Instead of just “being with Ukraine” — how about we make sure they always have ammo, planes and rockets?

#Ukraine is fighting for all of us - also #Germany, #France, #TheNetherlands, #Spain, #Italy
💛💙🙌🏻

And - no - Russia is not just the problem of “Eastern Europe”. If Ukraine does not win, first millions of new refugees will flee to Western Europe.
And then, Russian tanks will probably follow…
We cannot allow this.

‼️ Please, wake up your politicians ‼️

#TheNetherlands / Thousands protest against Herzog, who arrived to inaugurate a Holocaust museum

Protests are taking place in #Amsterdam against the presence of Israeli President Isaac #Herzog at the opening of the National Holocaust Museum. Over 1,500 demonstrators have gathered at Waterlooplein square, including the Jewish organization "Erev Rav". They are protesting Israel's actions in Gaza and find Herzog's attendance inappropriate. #Amnesty International is also demonstrating with signs near the museum.

“Rotterdam Cube Houses: Distorted”

Architecture in Rotterdam is known to be some of the most innovative and creative architecture in Holland. And even after more than 30 years, the cube houses (Kubuswoningen in Dutch) remain one of the city's most remarkable projects. It's easy to see why: these particular houses are 45° side-tilted cubes, optimized to make the most of the available space. The result is buildings that look, feel and behave like no other dwelling anywhere in the world.

Dutch architect Piet Blom designed Rotterdam's cube houses in the late 1970s at the request of the city's planners. Blom had already experimented with cubic architecture in the Dutch town of Helmond. So when he was offered this project in the Oude Haven area of the city center, he decided to further develop his original ideas. Interestingly, the cubic houses even form a pedestrian bridge over one of the busiest streets in the city center.

“Northern lapwing in Schiermonnikoog's Westerplas”

Schiermonnikoog is the smallest occupied island in the north of the Netherlands.

South-West of the island is the Westerplas, the most important fresh water area on the island.

It attracts many water birds.

The northern lapwing cannot be confused with any other bird. Pigeon-sized and robust-looking, this small wader has green and purple plumage with a metallic sheen and a typical long, thin, curved crest.

When author Benjamin Moser was 25, he moved to the Netherlands to start his writing career. He became infatuated by Dutch art, in particular, the artists who didn't live up to their potential. He writes for LitHub about what he learned. "After studying these failed painters, I decided that the only thing that mattered was just to do the work you felt was most important — and to keep doing it."
