They're not "flip-flopping" or "softening" their positions, they're lying their asses off because they know that in even red states voters strongly support #TheFreedomToDecide.
Voters strongly support access to abortion, contraception, and IVF.
And voters are not going to vote for forced-birth candidates.
Every one of those Republicans are forced-birth candidates so they will lie their asses off.
Abortion and reproductive rights in general is not the only issue potential Biden voters care about, but it is an avatar for all of the things prospective Biden voters care about.
Louisiana Republicans vote to force raped children to give birth.
This is how extreme forced-birthers are in America.
BTW, so-called exceptions aren't worth the paper they're written on. The requirements to qualify for the exceptions are all but impossible to meet in the real world.
If you care about #TheFreedomToDecide help elect people who will protect them.
"When Israel’s fascist National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir says a Trump Administration would be better for Israel and its current war in Gaza, you should believe him. Trump is the same man who moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, appointed a pro-settlement zealot as his ambassador to Israel, and is indebted to a white, Christian evangelical base ...
"The abortion-rights campaign turned in more than 100,000 signatures over the required amount needed to make the ballot, and did so eight days before the April 26 deadline."
And a forced-birth ballot measure failed to garner the signatures required.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Just to sum up. You support #Trump for pres even if he's convicted in classified docs case. You support him for pres even though you believe he contributed to an insurrection. You support him for pres even though you believe he's lying about the last election. You support him for pres even if he's convicted in Manhattan case. I just want to say, the answer to that is yes, correct?
Why? TFG has underperformed his primary poll numbers in state after state. Haley is still garnering a very much non-trivial vote share weeks after she dropped out of the race, hell even DeSantis is still getting votes.
And those were all before his horrible week on #TheFreedomToDecide and before the New York Voter Deception Trial that starts tomorrow.
There's a pretty good argument to be made that he has hit his high watermark for the campaign.
"And so, for many of them, it no longer matters whether Mom or Dad voted Republican all of their lives. What matters is what’s happening right now, and which political ideology supports reproductive rights, and which one supports forced birth."
While negative partisanship mostly drives election results today, for a growing part of the electorate, #TheFreedomToDecide trump's all else.
That's very good for Dems.
There's some definite opportunity in there to help the 3rd Party curious understand that Rome wasn't built in a day and 40 years of Reaganomic damage isn't going to be fixed in 3 or 4 years.
Biden (in the face of near 100% GOP opposition) has done yeoman's work to lay the foundation for real progress for working families.
Which is fine because adults under 35 are umpteen times more concerned about #TheFreedomToDecide, the #ClimateCrisis and #GunSafety than older voters and they will vote on these existential issues.
Old headline: Pa. Supreme Court rules abortion access is a right protected by state constitution
New headline: Pa. Supreme Court sets up a showdown over whether abortion is a right protected by the state constitution
Three of the five justices weighing the case signaled that they could be open to ruling in the future that abortion access is a right protected by the Pennsylvania constitution. https://www.inquirer.com/health/abortion-laws-pennsylvania-state-constitution-20240129.html
"This ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit—one of the most conservative courts in the nation—is a death sentence for women, unequivocally showing disregard for our lives."
Be very clear, if MAGA Republicans win in November they will make the entire country look like Texas.
If you care about #TheFreedomToDecide along with all the other #Freedoms they want to take away, join with the many thousands of people working hard to make sure we elect people ...
November is a long way away from today. I wouldn't make any assumptions about how Gen Z, etc. will vote.
What are the odds that either Biden's age or Gaza (x-months in the rear-view mirror) will be of greater importance than #TheFreedomToDecide, the #ClimateCrisis and #GunSafety for young voters come November?
The only way to stop Republicans from banning abortion nationwide is to reelect Joe Biden.
The only way to restore #TheFreedomToDecide is to also hold the Senate and retake the House in 2024.
If not for egregious gerrymandering in far too many states, their would be far fewer states with forced birth laws.
Regardless, we're going to continue to fight to #ProtectOurFreedoms, very much including #TheFreedomToDecide, overcome those gerrymanders, regain control of the federal government, pass voting rights legislation and restore reproductive freedom.
Maybe we should start showing images from the trump era, because really, will people be so stupid? A second chance of crazy will be worse, and the end.
Please join me.
Share a trump era bullshit in this thread for our democracy.
Ohio has followed many other states; voters are not enamored of Republican politicians policing their uteruses.
Dems need to run hard on freedom to choose in 2024 at every level in every race, despite the fact that a good couple of media pundits keep claiming the power and importance of this issue is winding down or limited. It isn’t. #AbortionRights
Don’t let anyone guilt trip you or throw you under the bus for being militant in defense of LGBTQ+ lives. I will never apologize for such a stance. You cannot stop a state-backed genocide without force. I understand folks don’t want to accept this. It’s daunting stuff. But it’s the truth.
It'll only be state backed (at the federal level) if we fail to ensure Democrats retain the Senate and White House and retake the House.
If we succeed in restoring a Democratic trifecta, we have a reasonable chance at passing federal protections for LGBTQIA+ people as well as for #TheFreedomToDecide, #TheFreedomToVote and more, and begin to put the radical reactionary regressive-right back under its rock.
There are 6 days left for Ohio voters to reject Issue 1, Republican efforts funded by wealthy out-of-state regressive-right elites to hamstring democracy and put a big roadblock in front of enshrining #TheFreedomToDecide in the Ohio constitution.
