Ohio has followed many other states; voters are not enamored of Republican politicians policing their uteruses.
Dems need to run hard on freedom to choose in 2024 at every level in every race, despite the fact that a good couple of media pundits keep claiming the power and importance of this issue is winding down or limited. It isn’t. #AbortionRights
@TonyStark Voters want Roe. They don't want 15 week ban with exceptions, they don't want a 13 week ban, and they don't want a 6 week ban. Republicans are backpedaling as fast as they can but it's not fast or far enough because they took away Roe, which was already the compromise.
Reject politicians offering anything less than the compromise of Roe and enshrine reproductive rights in law.
Also, nearly every Republican supports Trump. He installed 3 SCOTUS "justices" whom overturned Roe. Fully intentional, to the point that they all lied about it in their confirmation hearings.
Opens a window to tie your opponent both to Trump's myriad corruptions and to cancelling repro rights.

Even today the GOP is feeding the social media discourse with "whataboutism" that tries to erase the work Democrats did to make those sweeps happen (even in local races in NC!). Sock puppets were easier to spot when they wore googly eyes.
@Balkingpoints@JamesBazan@Bam 2 DSA members tried to run against Democratic, yes, Democratic incumbents in 2 wards for council in my county in the elections that were held yesterday. These are two hardworking, popular incumbent Democrats: progressive but not far left enough? Nobody ever got an explanation outside of “establishment Dems!!!!!” They tried to win in our spring primaries and lost.
Now they both ran as “Independents.” They both lost.
Cancelling Roe damaged GOP electoral prospects in both 2022 and 2023, and POTUS cycle turnout is always higher.
They walked into it, no let ups.
Will have to sign on to the BP dumpster fire account now to try to reach Schumer and Jeffries - no repro rights deals on the margins, like inter-state legality, that help GOP's in 2024.

And then I saw someone excusing antisemitic chants as legit resistance and some jagoff pretended not to know how “from the river…” is connected to Jews and then has his own stupid opinion so obviously was gaslighting me.
Same people who were upset about anyone flashing an “ok” sign, even if accidental, cool with Jew hate.

It's disingenuous & just plain disrespectful for her to pretend it means anything else - she insults us by saying we should believe her "brainwashing". I'd love if she was sincere, & worked hard to make it so, but when she speaks to her audience, there's no doubt what she's saying. I have a LOT to say about that, but I won't.

But these people unfortunately don’t know or understand this conflict and its history and wars and assassinations done to thwart peace, etc… it’s a difficult subject to which discussion nuance and analysis is needed to understand why both sides are where they are but people drift so easily to slogans. But they will forget about soon enough. Reality is as bad as it is, there is less death there than there used to be!

We grew up among ASL users and educators (although I've lost almost all of it...I'm old & it was long ago), and it's been interesting & distressing seeing perfectly good signs become appropriated for other purposes. Then again, when I was a hippie chick, rainbows were love and doves were peace... and they were also appropriated. I know, I know... language is fluid... so what sign is now chocolate milk??

I really tried to keep up, and then also not get bypassed by all the new stuff that came along when the kids were young (one's now 52, the other's about to turn 42), and the grandkids... plus keep up with all the advances in medical speak & tech... oh- & video games & animé... Thanks, but I was raised by activists, lived most of my life as an activist, and I don't think we've got a retirement plan... I think if you teethed to the HUAC, protested the Vietnam war, demanded passage of the ERA, etc., you can pretend to be satisfied with bucolic pastimes... but the rabble rouser is always close to the surface.
But what good does this do for us if the Progressive left keeps pushing antisemitism and calling for pogroms against Jews in this country. I’m having a hard time caring this time around.
We can be killed by the antisemites on the left or we can be killed by the antisemites on the right. So who cares who won.
I admit to being very, very angry at the Progressives for their betrayal. If find their “colonizers” rhetoric to be racist and bigoted and I don’t want to partner with them as they aren’t trustworthy.
I know that abortion rights are important as are many of the other things I became a Progressive for in the first place.
But when they are threatening to kill you, abortion rights don’t seem so important any longer.

I will stand up for personal bodily autonomy no matter what. I don’t think the pro-choice crowd as a whole wants to kill me.
There’s a far left faction that has decided to identify themselves as progressives. They do not represent me. Their attitudes are not progressive nor honest.
As someone who had one miscarriage that took me to the ER and and second “missed”miscarriage that almost went septic and had to have a D&C I do worry about abortion as healthcare. Even in my blue state and even though there was no “heartbeat” they made me wait a week or more to do the D&C even as I was calling and telling them how sick I felt.
Dems are the ones who protect abortion rights, but Dem candidates greatly underperform standalone abortion rights referenda like Ohio's Issue 1.
This could be explained by voters' ranking other issues as more important to them than abortion. But I think it's mostly because voters haven't figured out that their futures are determined by the candidates they vote for. I hope they figure that out.
