unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a clear picture of it, but the path of totality for the eclipse went through my area, so I got to see it first-hand. was super cool
Possibly a little late now (cough), but for reference, this is something I did during the solar eclipse of 10 June 2021, which was ~18% partial as seen from my back garden in The Netherlands.
You can see the top edge of the Sun being nibbled away then restored in the many pinhole projections during this ~2 hour timelapse.
The next eclipse in the U.S. is going to be in 2044 with 3 northern states plus Canada being able to view the totality. August 12th 2045 will be the next big one for the U.S. From Cali to Florida. #SolarEclipse2024
As the Sun slips towards the western horizon as seen from The Netherlands, it's fascinating to think that the Moon is also in this picture.
And that as seen from some points on Earth, the Moon is already partly covering the Sun, the path of totality sweeping across the Pacific towards the Mexican mainland to arrive in half an hour or so.
Reminder for folks in the #sfba that the #2024SolarEclipse will be visible in the bay starting around 10:13 am today, with maximum coverage around 11:13. We’re expected to see an occlusion of a bit less than half of the sun around here.
Look who I found, @smartereveryday! Please #mowx cooperate and give us the nice clear skies we have right now later today 🤞#TotalEclipse#SolarEclipse2024
I'm at the Totality Dallas festival in Mesquite, Texas. Currently watching presentation by Alysha Shugart of the Rubin Observatory on "Eclipse Soundscapes", sounds to expect during an eclipse and effects on people & animals. #SolarEclipse2024#astronomy
Previously overcast skies are breaking to partly cloudy at Totality Dallas in Mesquite TX. Hoping for a view of totality over an hour from now. Partial #eclipse has begun here. #weather#SolarEclipse2024#astronomy
