I'm excited to resume nightly visits with the Hunter! Won't be too much longer before he's crossing the cold night sky.

Trying real hard not to slide into every "switch to firefox" thread this weekend.

They partner with both Google and Cloudflare. Two of the most evil companies on the planet.

They've been caught doing skeezy things on multiple occasion.

macOS & iOS folks: consider switching to and supporting Orion (& Kagi), where at least you're nigh guaranteed to not be the product in some way.

All these "thought leaders" rly need to mebbe lean into the first word in the quoted text for a change.

gaufff,

@hrbrmstr After a first try, it looks great! Only the cookies consent pop ups… for which my only option for now is to have with .

Am I correct that no other browser on than Safari allows to use an adblocker?

I mean, seems to block a lot of stuff, but no way I can block consent popups with on ?

EDIT: apparently it can!

Plus tard cette année, il sera connecté via l'adaptateur du module d'équipage (visible en haut) à la capsule pour former le vaisseau complet avant son voyage autour de la prévu fin 2024

The AP reports: "They peeked into their unfinished Orion capsule, red 'Remove Before Flight' tags still dangling from it, and came away impressed."

As a fan of Kagi Search, I gave Kagi's Orion Browser a try. It's built on Safari's tech, but the ideology is closer to Firefox. Supporting BOTH Chrome and Firefox extensions is a huge win.

My initial impressions of the "public beta" is that it still has a lot of work. Few extensions fully work, ie 1Password doesn't work at all. DOM performance was dramatically worse than Chrome (82 vs 133 on speeDOMeter). Hopefully it continues to improve, but it has a long path ahead.

Interstellar organic chemistry gets a boost as JWST detects a new carbon compound in space for the first time. Methyl cation (pronounced cat-eye-on) (CH3+) was detected in a young star system with a protoplanetary disk, known as d203-506, located about 1,350 light-years away in the Orion Nebula.
The methyl cation molecule is important because it aids the formation of more complex carbon-based molecules.

CH3+ reacts with a wide range of other molecules and has been theorized to be the cornerstone of interstellar organic chemistry, yet until now has remained undetected.
The discovery vindicates the theory that CH3+ can form in the presence of strong UV radiation. UV radiation is destructive to complex organic molecules, but under the right conditions it can facilitate it. There is evidence that the solar system disk was UV radiated by a nearby star.

Although research published as early as the 1970s predicted the importance of CH3+ in interstellar chemistry, it has previously been virtually impossible to detect. It took a sensitive infrared space-based telescope like JWST to finally detect it.

#Artemis :#NASA's "#SLS #rocket 🚀 is #smaller than the #Saturn V. It is also much more #expensive. #PlanetarySociety : #NASA spent $49.9 billion 💰💰💰💰💰 on #SLS and #Orion between 📆 2006 and their first test launch in 2022. Due to “poorly defined requirements, poor contractor performance, and increased material #cost”...

• SLS cost 42.5% 📈 more 💸 than originally projected
