I could never get into #Skyrim. Tried multiple times. Bounced off of #Fallout 3 and 4. I figured if anything could pull me in it'd be #Starfield. Fell off after a handful of hours. It just wasn't scratching the #NoMansSky itch. It was too compartmentalized to feel like space exploration. A bunch of small maps. Like a fast travel simulator. Tried #OuterWorlds & really enjoyed the first planet. Then lost momentum. It looks like I am just not a #Bethesda style #RPG kinda guy.
I must have about 40 hours behind me in that game, but only just tonight did I discover my first derelict freighter, and the game gave me a quest to build the submarine.
I’ve never played a game for so long and still felt like I had no idea what I’m doing. It’s mad.
So here’s a weird random thing that I love about #NoMansSky; I absolutely LOVE the fact that you can get truly HOPELESSLY lost in cavern complexes, which is not something you’d expect a space-based exploration game to get right.
I bought No Man's Sky several years ago (not at release), but never got into it beyond playing a few hours. I'm not sure why, but this week I decided to give it another go, it's a bit overwhelming with how much stuff there is in the game, but I'm having fun. A few YouTube videos have helped a bit. Currently I'm just doing what I feel like, learning slowly and not very focused.
Plan to waste too many hours this weekend in the game.
Tonight’s “For fuck’s sake!” moment while playing #NoMansSky came in realising that you add technology slots exactly the same way you add inventory slots.
So all this time I’ve been struggling with not having enough tech storage, while I’m carrying shitloads of stuff…
Should have gone to bed an hour ago, but I got lost in #NoMansSky again.
40+ hours in, and I’ve still not figured out a cost effective way to increase my ship’s storage - until tonight!
Turns out you can buy class B+ ships for ~7m credits, which you then scrap immediately. This (usually) gives you a credit to use towards a new storage spot on your normal boat. You can sell the scrap and get back ~80% of what you paid, which is much better than paying 7m credits for a single slot.
I cannot figure out how to get into a derelict freighter in #nomanssky I always get stuck outside the airlock door. I do everything on the secure mainframe and then it’s like “Access Requested…Additional Security Required…Scanning:” and then a seconds counter just keeps going up, and nothing happens. I don’t know what else I need to do.
Absolutely love that I can play #NoMansSky for almost three hours on the battery on my MacBook. My last MacBook had about three hours in the battery while just fucking about online.
Been playing #NoMansSky again for the past few hours. What’s absolutely baffling is how I can play it for four hours, and feel like I’ve not spent enough time on it. It’s just so big*.
@massivelyop This weekend I'll probably be focusing on the new #NoMansSky expedition, although I just started it last night and already feeling it might not their best. It's going for two whole months, though.
I've gotten to the stage in No Man's Sky that leads me on random rabbit holes. It's a beautiful space adventuring game that gets me so sucked into its universe! Almost 2 in the morning and if not for looking at my clock...I'd be up until 3 in the morning playing!
woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't sleep. decided to checkout some of the gameplay footage of Starfield.
I went from mildly interested in the game to pretty much zero interest. The elements I care about RPG, story, and exploration seem all to take a backseat to the aspects I despise in games: first person shooting combat.
I can't express how beautiful was going back to No Man's Sky with the new update. I explored the galaxy some more, got through the quests I left behind long time ago and finally got myself a new fresh quest line to discover the Autophage faction.
Its always fun to watch gamers lose their minds, this time re: #Starfield having invisible borders when you land on a planet. You apparently have to walk almost 40 real minutes to reach the edge 😳
Here’s my take, I don't really care if the landing area is “limited" as long as its interesting, and has things to do.
#NoMansSky did a great job with a space simulator, you can seamlessly land and walk the entire distance around a planet. But the planets are all rather generic and uninteresting.
