@mbonsma I know, so cool! This was better than what I saw back in 2018 when I was in the Yukon.
Check out a few images that I captured between Guelph and Kitchener.
“Providing housing would be the best way possible and this is the cheapest way that we can afford to build one,” said Lacasse, a group member of United Front to End Homelessness.
The structures are entirely made out of sand bags.
“The sand bag houses that are being built are fire resistant, properly ventilated and easy to heat,” said Wren Wombwell, a member of Fight Back KW.
it seems that local technical #meetups are on life support in many cities. the news about #womenwhocode really set me back this week knowing the impact they have had on many women in the industry.
i would love to hear some positive news about groups that meet regularly that are thriving. link me!
The #Kitchener#Waterloo Linux Users Group @kwlug is still going strong. Although they're looking for folks to make presentations on #FreeSoftware and related things. Remote presentations are welcome, one of the few good things to come out of the pandemic.
Must be coming up on the #KWLUG 25th anniversary soon, too!
I am looking for an errand buddy in #guelph
I don't have enough cog to both drive myself somewhere and do anything once I get there. So looking for someone to do errands with. Either with your own car, or if you have a a driver's license and executive function we can use mine.
Hoping to build some new friendships and a mutually supportive network in my new home town.
Pls boost if you have connections in the area. Danka! #kitchenerWaterloo#kw#kitchener#waterloo
At "Seedy Saturday" at the library, put on by the Horticultural Society here. This makes me want badly to be a good gardener, the kind that doesn't just sow seeds and then forget they exist for weeks. My lavender experiment haunts me....

There was a time when Britain ruled over half of world's #muslims in #Africa & #India, and Kitchener believed Islam as a homogenous, single centralized entity controlled by the #Caliph — #Mohammad's successor.
This perception probably grew out of the fact that #Turkish#Sultan had immense sway over muslims far away in India.
in 1947, when there were shortages of soap, Mrs W. Cockman 😆 of #Kitchener Ontario (Soap Capitol now 😆) sent in this photo of Mrs Sam Rohr who made 65 lbs of soap, 4 times a year
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
I'm done my day in #Kitchener knocking on doors for Aislinn Clancy, so now I'm home, watching the debate between the three candidates who showed up at Rogers TV (the PC candidate did not show his face, surprise, surprise)
I'm annoyed, as always, that the debate host said "There are four candidates in the race..."
There are eighteen candidates in the race! This is where democracy dies, when the media does not respect the electoral process and does not invite all candidates to an "All-Candidate Debate".
