I just recently abandoned by Lemmy.ml account and also I've stopped doom scrolling #instagram.
I'm one of those "meme friends", you know, someone who does the #doomscrolling for you, and I just stopped one day and released an IG story saying "do your own damned doomscrolling".
This is because Instagram is now filled up with #bots and #contentfarms. For every 30-40 of useless garbage and mindrot, I got maybe 1-2 good videos/reels.
The internet, including social media, is filling with #spam.

The European Union has opened a formal investigation into Meta over concerns it isn’t doing enough to safeguard the mental and physical health of children, reports @theverge.
The probe will assess whether Meta has breached rules under the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), noting that Facebook and Instagram’s UI and algorithms may cause “behavioral addictions in children.” There are also concerns that Meta isn’t doing enough to prevent minors from accessing inappropriate content, and that its age-verification tools may not be “reasonable, proportionate, and effective.”

Abgesehen davon, dass ich TikTok nicht mag weil ich deren Zweck nicht einsehe, nutzen es sehr viele und vor allem sehr junge Menschen und dies auch kommerziell. Wie eben YouTube & Co. und eigentlich nicht viel anders aber auch als politische Propaganda eine Konkurenz zusätzlich.
