The first RCT trial for immediate access to HRT--testosterone to transmascs--has published its findings. In it, 52% of those given immediate access to testosterone had an IMMEDIATE CESSATION of their previously-present suicidal ideation, compared to 5% of those given a placebo. A treatment being ten times more effective than placebo is pretty much as decisive as it gets.
You've probably heard from transphobes about how "you can't change your DNA," so nothing you do in transition really matters. "Basic biology," they whinge. Well... what about intermediate biology?
This week on #StainedGlassWoman, come and see How HRT Rewrites Your DNA by just plain turning off the parts you don't need and turning on the ones you do! Now with more wedding photos, from another queer wedding.
apparently someone is selling a product called "I cant believe its not estrogen" and its marketed as an mtf hormone supplement but not only does it not work (it actually boosts testosterone), it looks to be a honeypot to gather addresses and identities of trans people by a terf. The dose is also harmfully high.
So like, dont buy that. Make sure your friends dont buy it. #transgender#hrt
Hey #trans peeps who are on HRT, I have a theory about our community in the Fedi. It seems to me that most of us are either what I call "Pandemic Boys and Girls" who started their transition during lockdown, or those of us who seem to be a few months in. I'm in that second group. It's like the pandemic started us off, but we didn't quite get there for some reason until recently. So let's do a little poll.
How long have you been on #HRT, or alternatively how long since your definitive egg crack?
We've been hearing an increasing number of reports of trans people's GPs refusing to prescribe their HRT to them - even if they have a letter from an NHS gender clinic requesting that they do.
This week on #StainedGlassWoman, we're going to be Walking the Tightrope as we take a careful look at the inherent risks DIY HRT presents to those who rely on it. By doing so, I'm hoping to help those folks to stay as safe as possible while they use it, and give everyone else some important safety knowledge, just in case it becomes necessary.

Given how many trans folks rely on information acquisition via search engines, espeically early on in transition, because they allow natural language queries, increased restriction to information sets a concerning precedent.
I wish for all the people who believe #trans kids should be subjected to double-blind studies of the effectiveness of hormone treatments to themselves subjected to the first double-blind studies of the effectiveness of parachutes.
If you want to get started on gender affirming hormone therapy without the gatekeeping as safely and affordably as possible, but aren't sure whom to ask for help, my DMs are always open :TransHeart:
And if you've got a fundraiser to afford your costs, I'll happily boost it for you :BoostsOKPrideSymbol:
Transfemme Mastodon has been a giant love-fest of nothing but support from the moment I set foot here. Even the radical politics are borne of a sense of self-preservation and righteousness.
I love this place. And considering my egg cracked only two weeks ago in an explosive mess, I have never been more sure of who I am than in this moment. Transfemme Mastodon has only affirmed that.
I eagerly await to start #HRT in the next few weeks and have my body coccoon into a wonderful, feminine butterfly.
Gender Incongruence: "Before 2013, the situation was even worse because people were then diagnosed with a clearly defined mental illness know as gender identity disorder. Yes indeed to qualify for hormone therapy you had to be certified by a psychiatrist as having a mental health problem. But how can affirming your own personal identity be a disease? Who is really suffering the dysphoria? Is it the client or is it the mental health professional, desperately trying to defend society's need to minimize the extent of gender diversity?"

Again, don't like doing this. But better safe than sorry.
I've been dragging my feet at taking the walk to grabbing my official #HRT pills because I'm a paranoid fuck about getting slapped with a co-pay I can't afford. So better safe than sorry.
Even though I'm on Medicaid now, I wouldn't put that shit past a pharmacy at this point. Remember when I got slapped with a $70 co-pay when I got 'official' HRT?
Hopefully, I can quit doing this begging sooner rather than later, but that'd require me getting hired.
I’ve officially been on Testopel (aka “testosterone pellets”) for 3 years! :blob_cat_dance:
Testopel is a form of HRT where tiny rice-sized pellets of testosterone are implanted in the body through a small incision in the hip / butt cheek area. The pellets release testosterone over a period of 3-6 months (the amount of time varies for each person.) I started taking Testopel in March 2020, after previously being on testosterone gel. I consider it a huge improvement from gel because my T levels have been more stable and I only have to worry about my hormones every few months instead of daily which is SO convenient and really helps with dysphoria.
Here is a thread where I talk about Testopel and my experiences with it. Feel free to ask questions if you have any.
HEY SO I might be moving to testosterone injections soon instead of the topical gel. Does anybody have tips for HRT injections, especially stuff the doctor might not mention? I'm pretty nervous about it. #transgender#transmasc#HRT#LGBTQIA#trans
Hey guys, I got into a car accident this week. I can no longer perform my job of doordashing, I also have a ton of expensives relating to the tow. My cashapp is
Pinging the #trans Hivemind again for an #HRT question: Does someone have experience with topical Progesterone gel? I have used the soft capsules for a while, tried them both orally and rectally, but they didn't really do anything for me and my levels were pretty low as well.
I want to see if a different vector works better for me, but I'm not sure on stuff like dosage, how often to apply etc.
can some #trans#transfem people help out, is my estrogen like crazy high or is the fact that they upped my dosage at the same time I got this blood test taken fine?
The results were 436 pg/ml. They did not give me any frame of reference for this number… #HRT#estrogen#diyhrt
Google has removed two websites providing “DIY” hormone replacement therapy used in gender-affirming care from search results at the request of the UK government, according to legal letters viewed by 404 Media (@404mediaco).
