We left the island of Rhodes, took the ferry and sailed (speed catamaran 😉) for quite a while along the Turkish coast. How beautiful this deep blue sea! 💙
The night in Rodini Park in Rhodes was quiet, nobody bothered us anymore after the incident with the teenagers. But we didn't sleep very well. We were still on alert and wore all our clothes to be able to react quickly in case something happens. Early in the morning, we packed everything up, left the mystical park, and cycled to the lively, sunlit harbor. #cycling#greece#rhodes
So I found myself in a weird predicament. I had some older laptops that I converted to #Debian & #XFce with a bunch of added apps and games. I gave some to my family, and the rest I wanted to give them to kids for school. I asked around. Well, no one seems to want them. No one is using computers anymore in #Greece it seems, they only use #smartphones. They barely browse the web too (just some gov sites). They just use #tiktok and few apps, consoles for games. That's it.
During the summer of 2021, wildfires raged across the Mediterranean. This poignant image, taken on 8 August 2021, immortalizes 81-year-old Panayiota Kritsiopi bathed in the orange glow of advancing flames as she flees her home on the Greek island of Evia. “At that moment I was shouting, not only for myself, but for the whole village,” Kritsiopi recounted later.
Our campsite in the middle of Rhodes...
When we found this place in 'Rodini Park', there was not a single person visiting this deep green park. So we thought we could go to bed early and spend a quiet night. However, we did not expect a group of teenagers who had come to play 'hide and seek'. As soon as they spotted us, they started throwing stones in our direction. So we got out of the tent to show them who we are and to talk to them. Finally, they understood that we are travelers who just want to spend a peaceful night here. After exchanging some famous football players and some curse words in different languages, they finally ran away.
This is a #watercolor painting I did a few months ago but hadn't share, until we bought a scanner here in #Greece. It arrived today, I scanned the painting under #Debian#Linux without any issues (or additional drivers), and I fixed the colors with #Gimp. It's the first time I use The Gimp for my paintings (I've used The Gimp on and off since its inception, but not for my artworks). I've been using #Photoshop instead for my collages and paintings, but I stopped my #Adobe subscription a few months ago. It's all #Foss now.
2 Russian-born #Czech citizens ran a #hotel in #Greece that doubled as #SafeHouse for infamous unit of Russia’s military intelligence agency (GRU) as it carried out #bombings & #poisonings across Europe
Husband/wife Nikolay & Elena #Saposnikov ran Villa Elena, a 3-story hotel hosted members of #Kremlin's “most grimly accomplished #assassination and #sabotage squad,” Unit #29155, on a regular basis for the last 15 years.

We totally randomly met two #bicycle riders this morning near our home, apparently they're traveling around #Greece & #Albania with bicycles. They are a #German & #Italian couple. We invited them at my mom's home and we all had lunch together. Apparently they are #PhD candidates in #Austria, one in #chemistry and the other one in #biology. Very interesting young people. It was a good day today.
