@Nellen@lexd0g Just use a #fanless#UniFi switch with #SFP+ ports and shove some AOC (active optical cable) or matchibg modules and fibers in it - like with #Toslink...
It’s been about ten years since the very first case we designed for #RaspberryPi.
Fast forward to today and the countdown to Raspberry #Pi5 is on. We've got another video about it for you, this time discussing the new cooling and case options we’ve designed to accompany our latest board.
We've introduced some developments in response to what people have told us they want from these products...
@Raspberry_Pi and how many people would prefer an equivalent to Rpi4 in terms of processing power and spend the generational improvements on lower consumption so we don't need to discuss actively cooled cases at all ?
@keao well, @fuchsiii is certainly a fan and unless you constantly edit RAW & non-ProRes all day long, it's a #fanless machine that just wörks!
Consistently getting double-digit hoirs of runtime even when torturing it is basically unmatched at either weight, price and/or performance to the point that many say this is the beginning of the end of #amd64 / #ix86(-64)...
Because any competitior that beats it in any of the categories fails at the other two...
Personally, I do like the fact that #ServeTheHome isn't just doing #HardwarePorn like #LinusTechTips but also looking at more affordable and reasonable options.
#ReUse & #UseLonger are not only cheaper but also more envoirmentally friendly, and from my personal experience, getting some relatively-new #ThinClient that may even be #fanless is a cheao, easy and useful starting point for a #MiniServer...
The only disadvantage is that aside from a single M.2 B-Key SSD slot, two internal USB 2.0 ports a 2nd DDR3L-SODIMM, 4x USB 2.0 and 2x USB 3.0 on the outside there's no expandability.
Listen friends I need your help. I'm deeply attracted to these various kinds of enclosures and have a deep need to buy them and instal LCD screens and big click-y knobs and such in them... but I don't know what the heck I want to build.
I'm in danger of just getting one and "figuring it out later" this is madness.
my condolences to anyone who has to sell this right now 👇 #macos with linux you can still use older mac as macOS Sonoma drops support for another wide swath of Intel Macs
