@canardpc je me rappelle encore quand j'ai acheté le premier numéro en PQ au kiosquier du coin.

Et tous les suivants, religieusement, espérant que ma prière hebdomadaire contribuerait à perpétuer la crétinerie renommée de la rédaction.

Vraiment, ça n'était pas pour le papier, le PQ était encore abordable à l'époque.

Pour moi ça allait tellement de soi que ça ne pouvait que marcher. Ça a été une découverte de réaliser le parcours épique du magazine dans le numéro des 10 ans.

@Raspberry_Pi and how many people would prefer an equivalent to Rpi4 in terms of processing power and spend the generational improvements on lower consumption so we don't need to discuss actively cooled cases at all ?

@hook one more reason to like Slimbook is their good personal tech support (in my experience, anyway). My 3 year old Slimbook Base 14 suddenly quit, and it's out of warranty, but they did respond to a "now what?" mail with an extensive troubleshooting guide and disassembly video, so I'm in the process of repairing it myself.

My hardcore Windows-using gamer friend just got a Steam Deck. He told me he's "not interested in modifying it" and that he "will use it like a stock Pixel [phone]".

My biggest fear for the Steam Deck was that people would just install Windows on it, but it's my understanding that most people haven't done that. It seems that if you sell hardware with Linux preinstalled and support it properly, people will happily use it.

@JoeRess yeah I thought I would install #Debian on mine because Arch sucks, but it just works too well so I left it as it is.

The image-based update system is rock solid and the included #KDE Plasma environment still leaves you plenty of freedom to experiment with $things.

    Is there really a renaissance in open communication tools? Does the success of the Fediverse mean that people are finally moving away from the huge companies that lock your data up? Are FOSS people just living in a bubble while the world continues to use the big platforms? How does Meta/Facebook joining the Fediverse fit into the picture? What about Bluesky?

    @JoeRess I couldn't agree less that GAFAMs joining the fediverse is a good thing.

    I still remember XMPP contacts moving to their google account because of convenience at the time, and becoming unavailable from regular XMPP servers after google defederated theirs.

    It took me years before reusing XMPP again with a different set of contacts.

    I find the technology stack to have useful properties but what's the ratio between people doing the work and people interested in these props ?

    I personally value more :

    • the curation that my fellow distro members do and them patching out upstream crap like unwanted spying
    • the ability to easily hack on any part of my system (vi /some/script or apt source package, patch, rebuild)

    And you can't stop me from packaging if I like it. Remember? It's FOSS. 🙂

    @mmu_man @frederic @agnes007 et puis « le microphone intégré permet d’être entendu de façon intelligible à condition de parler dans une pièce calme » => non merci.

    Je ne vais pas faire la pub pour une marque bien connue souvent utilisée en entreprise mais après en avoir eu pendant des années, avoir un micro efficace justement en environnement bruyant est un MUST !
