🇯🇵 The rocket’s 6.5 tons to #GEO is higher than #Falcon9’s 5.5 ton capacity (in F9’s reusable configuration). Should the #H3’s launch price tag settle at around $50M, it could be price competitive with Falcon 9’s reusable launch cost of around $67M 📊 https://payloadspace.com/japans-h3-rocket-reaches-orbit-on-its-second-flight/

You have to give SpaceX credit where credit is due. If we need to go to space, let's do it in reusable vehicles, and booster 1058 flew 19 times before getting destroyed by the ocean. As Scott points out, that is more times than the whole Saturn V program.

What's That Huge Red Blob In The Night Sky?

This image was made by Bill Dunford (NASA JPL) at McDonald Observatory last Friday night. The red blob appears to be an induced aurora from a rocket launch, likely the 2nd stage burn of the #Falcon9 #Starlink 6-16 launch out of Canaveral at 0338 UTC on the 16th. Coincidentally, the 2.7m telescope, equipped with an IFU spectrograph, was looking in the direction of this spot as it passed overhead. It's not known yet whether the light affected the data.

I was asked why I could be anti #Musk and pro #space at the same time. Musk apparently sees it the same way and builds a #straw man: Whoever is against him is also against space travel.
#SpaceX is not Musk alone, #Falcon9, #Dragon and #Starship are the work of many outstanding engineers, scientists, technicians and managers! And SpaceX is not space travel as such. #SpaceKaren seems to have been more concerned with his fragile ego than meaningful projects in recent years.
