"Columbia Law Review Site Taken Down Over Article Accusing Israel of Genocide" - The website for the Columbia Law Review was taken down Monday by its board of directors after editors published a lengthy article by a Palestinian human rights lawyer accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza. HS Grads, you may want to pick your university based on how their admins have reacted to current protests and their commitment to free speech. https://www.thedailybeast.com/columbia-law-review-site-taken-down-over-article-accusing-israel-of-genocide?via=ios

French police have stepped up attacks against free speech and freedom of citizens by fining those wearing solidarity pins of palestinian keffiyeh.

This is supposed to be the labs of "liberte" but I guess humanizing Palestinians is too much for freedom loving french authorities.

The Balkanised Activitypub Federation (BAF…?) is a great source of frustration. I have a friend, @kolev , and he's having a hard time following me. I know the answer is probably "technical limitations", but why do server owners have any say on what their users may or may not read? That's abhorrent.

Eventually I would have to copy my Nostr keypair here and find a good piece of software with which to use it.

@dekkzz76 I have a suggestion - a path of diplomacy and reconciliation. You can't see it, but I am rolling my eyes. babka.social and emacs.ch can attach a dynamo and maybe create enough power to repay their shared hosting bills. What do you think?

I finally found a rare gem of a supporter who cares enough about my fight for abolishing specific that he goes the extra mile and PUTS UP HIS OWN VIDEO RESPONSES 🤯 Except now he's banned on from posting for a week, simply for linking to my website toplesstopics(dot)org 🙃 there's nothing whatsoever sksual on my site, literally just links to the "patriarchy unfriendly" versions of my videos I host on Peertube where my heinous female npls are visible as I just sit there talking about whatever, not at all sksual like the MILLIONS of "people who look male" posting top (less) thirst traps on every mainstream platform. I've known YouTube has blocklisted my website for years (and basically anything else I've ever linked to, see toplesstopics(dot)org/banned for hundreds of screenshots of proof), but someone ELSE, an MAN even, getting a week long ban for linking to my website is a new frontier of blatantly misogynistic fascist censorship that I've yet to see crossed.

It's so enraging, because this guy is such a BAMF for not only commenting on my social media posts, but making FULL-A** VIDEO RESPONSES, which is something I've had happen maybe five times ever in the ten years I've been making videos about top freedom. He says he'll still keep making new videos after the ban ends, and I appreciate him more than words can say for doing this. The ONLY way we can EVER convince these capitalist institutions to stop assigning different levels of censorship based on "what gender you look like" is if A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE are VERY LOUD in pointing out the hypocrisy, and dudes like this are precious all-stars in this fight ❤️

Please subscribe, like, comment etc in support of this wonderful human who has gone above and beyond in supporting my fight against specific by making multiple video responses to my own posts, and consider making your own videos as well, or at least text or image posts sharing why you think banning the chests of "people who look female" from online and in public as "sexually explicit nudity" but not the chests of "people who look male" is hypocrisy that needs to stop ❤️

On/around 27th May 2024, the traffic from Azerbaijan to www.bbc.com & www.bbc.co.uk reduced by over 80%.
Looking at our data, I can see that the vast majority of traffic in Azerbaijan comes from AS29049 (Delta Telecom) which is their majority ISP according to Wikipedia.
OONI says tests were passing as recently as 28th May from AS29049 but there's definitely something going on...Unsure exactly what.
(the gap in AS29049 is a GeoIP data migration)

Graph showing the daily total requests by Network AS. This shows a corresponsing drop, mainly on AS29049, Delta Telecom
OONI (ooni.org) data showing passing tests from AS29049 to www.bbc.com over the last month, all tests are passing but there are none since the 28th May

There's quite a bit of "wikipedia.org" usage in the same vein.

For what it's worth, I do see a drop off but not a huge one yet, in non-bot UA webrequests to AZ Wikipedia.

https://stats.wikimedia.org/#/az.wikipedia.org/reading/total-page-views/normal%7Cbar%7C1-month%7Cagent~user%7Cdaily

There's a country split as well but AZ hasn't shown up there even for the AZ language wiki since June 2023.

May 2023: 31M of which 13M from AZ.
June 2023: 27M of which none from AZ? Might be a GeoIP issue. Or censor with most working around?

Hello everyone!! New to this server after being banned from MSTDN.DK for calling out Proton's unjust actions of turning a climate change activist in to police. Guess they don't prefer people to speak up about social injustices there. This is my backup account as I am also on a seperate instance just in case my views are not accepted here either. Fingers crossed! Anyway, thank you for welcoming me!

I am into anonymity, freedom of speech/press/expression, social justice/human rights, and am against corruption and government tyranny.

@jippi @saustrup see and now I look at the admins' words on his profile and he says "fuck you Putin." So, then my words are the same as his, yet I get banned? Feels politically driven even more so now. Hopefully he will resolve the issue which I wrote an appeal on earlier. None the less, I feel more comfortable elsewhere until we can see eye to eye on the matter.

If it comes down to it I will self host which is what is so great about Mastodon, but these political games are getting ridiculous anymore these days. As I said, a ban for standing up for the truth of something? Not even agreeing with the protestor, but a ban for defending his rights does not seem just except under rule by an authoritarian person. That is my view on it.

MoneroIsTheFuture,
@MoneroIsTheFuture@expressional.social avatar

@jippi @saustrup additionally, I must ask, is my digging into the deeper reasons behind why Pusher Street was removed allowed on your server or is government and politic corruption of that sort censored as well?

See, I speak a lot on matters corporations/companies and governments try to hide. They are very powerful entities, and so I feel this influence is a large reason why I have constant censorship related issues.

I ask on Pusher Street because I have to re-elaborate on how there is a specific agreement between parties in the construction industry and the government working in tandem now with the public not having any knowledge which hurts my cause of legalisation of cannabis. Is this too controversial of a topic? Will it be taken down because I do too much digging?

I feel I am targeted everywhere because of the type of digging I do and corruption I expose. Again, I don't think the cause of my ban was strictly harsh language; it was under this guise though...

Anyone else read adult books in like middle school? And instead of adults freaking out, they encouraged it? I read horror "early" & everyone from teachers to neighbors were thrilled to recommend more, plenty with sexual content, worried more if the gore/terror would be too much.

rivetgeek,
@rivetgeek@dice.camp avatar

@thoughtpunks By the time I was 12 or so I had exhausted the books I was interested in reading in the children's section of the local library and was checking out books from the adult science fiction/fantasy section. I saw Alien when I was 8. We found a box full of Playboys that someone was throwing out when I was 10 or 11. We used to try to watch scrambled porn on SelectTV. This pearl clutching about books in schools has nothing to do with protecting kids and the right wingers know it.
