#BloomScrolling My neighbor down the hill just sent me these pictures of my daylilies in bloom from her evening walk, and I can't tell you how happy it made me. #Umbria
Spotted bee balm, Monarda punctata. Fun fact: the light pink bits are not flowers! They are the bracts. The little yellow things with small brown spots are the flowers.
The mint family has a morphological trait seen here called a vertiscillaster. This means that the flowers are bunched and whorl around the axis of the main stem.
The first blooms of juhannusruusu, Midsummer Rose or Finnish White Rose. In Finland we celebrate Midsummer on a Saturday close to summer solstice. These roses always (well, as far as I can remember at least) bloom by that time. This year I was a bit worried they wouldn't make it as it's been so hot and dry, but I just noticed these this morning, so right on time!
These two flowers are on the same tree. The pink doesn't fade to the white colour, they both come out from the buds in these colours.
It started about 4 years ago, when a new shoot on our dark pink / red camellia showed one white flower, and since then that branch has only had white flowers (with tiny pink spots on them). The rest of the tree continues to bloom the darker colour. It hasn't been grafted.

Morning Tooters - spotted these on my walk (thanks everyone for the ID) - they are known as Lilli Pilli and edible (will test that out) #bloomscrolling
The White Fleeceflower (Persicaria polymorpha) is having a fantastic year (zone 5). It occasionally gets a little water, but seems to be thriving in the current drought. This plant dies back to the ground every winter and then grows up to be this huge bush every summer. @gardening #bloomscrolling #garden
