2024 fashion reminder

I saw a lot of hype / skepticism for the newly announced Blade Runner game, and just want to mention that there's already a pretty incredible Blade-Runner-inspired game, LOW-FI, releasing later this year. (www.youtube.com)

It's a huge open world experience, available in VR (but not required), in a retro-futuristic cyberpunk slum. Hundreds of crimes and stories to solve, lots of places to explore, AI companions to get, the flying car, tons more....

👀 Incredible scenes coming out of New York City.

This is the view from George Washington Bridge as smoke from wildfires in Canada blankets the Northeast US.

Air quality in NYC is the worst in the world right now. The Air Quality Index is unimaginably high at over 400 in some areas, meaning there is a high risk of adverse health effects.

A side view image of the Lego Blade Runner Police Spinner I made long ago. Simple and kinda graphic.

Always liked the Japanese kanji, it feels apt for a Blade Runner image.

Today, April 10, 2017, is the birthdate of the replicant known as Leon Kowalski. Bioengineered humans created by Tyrell Corporation for cheap labor have implanted memories and a built-in four year lifespan to prevent them from developing empathetic abilities (Blade Runner, 1982)

Bradbury Building (article) (www.readingdesign.org)

From Double Indemnity to Blade Runner, LA's Bradbury Building forms the quintessential film noir backdrop. There used to be a sign on the blank wall neighbouring Los Angeles' Bradbury Building that read "CANADA". When it appeared in Blade Runner in 1981, the CA had been removed leaving the word NADA. Very dark. Very noir. Very...

Dear Deckard,

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... Sleigh bells ringing from the horizon of the Aurora Borealis ... I watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer glow in the dark near the North Pole. All those moments will be lost in time, like snow in a blizzard... Time to die.

Today in Labor History February 11, 1938: BBC Television produced the world's first ever science fiction television program, an adaptation of a section of the Karel Čapek play R.U.R., that coined the term "robot." He derived the word “robot” from the Czech word for forced labor by Serfs. R.U.R. is an archetype for many of the science fiction stories and films that followed, like Bladerunner, West World and Terminator, and others about robots, replicants and hosts that rebel against humans. However, “R.U.R.,” like Čapek’s 1936 novel “War with the Newts,” is also a satirical critique of totalitarianism, which was already on the rise in Europe at the time he wrote the play.

Wonderful to revisit Blade Runner on the big screen again this evening, where it really belongs. Took chum along who had never seen it before. Those forty year old visuals are still stunning, the soundtrack by Vangelis iconic.

Sculpted in epoxy putty, plus some convenient shapes of plastic.
Cotton wool hides the flight stand and calls back to the original Spinner of Blade Runner.
