This critter was pretty well hidden in a small pocket between the base of a swamp milkweed leaf and the stem. ID apps think its some kind of leafcutter bee, but I was unable to get a view of it that would give me more confidence in the ID.

Alright, for the new year my resolution is to begin posting some of my photos - finally.
Let’s start out with this little honey bee (Apis mellifera). Bees have quite amazing colour vision, and prefer flowers of certain colours (often blue as a matter of fact).
There seems to be a growing recognition among #businesses who rely on pollination, that pesticides that devastate the #bee population, may have an adverse impact on their businesses..... duhhh.
So, what that does mean is that pressure to ban the #CrusierSB pesticide is growing.
Despite extensive campaigning we're still ignoring the vital role of nature's #workers to our society.
No-one should be surprised that #Tories are unwilling to protect workers (bees or people)
As I was sitting at the lake the other morning I noticed some interesting ripples and realized a little creature was swimming toward me. Not sure of what exactly was, I took a picture and zoomed in, recognizing a little bee swimming pretty fast, hopefully making it to the shore safely.
This image is heavily cropped.
The orange color on the antennae means that it is a male carpenter bee Xylocopa violacea. In Xilopa valga, which is very similar, the antennae are completely black. Photo taken in a park in Valencia-Spain.
