Hey do you love #audiobooks and #audiodrama? Consider giving https://audioteria.com a boost. They produce AMAZING stories (including classic Sci Fi like #DanDare and #blakes7). We all know Audible and the other platforms keep the lion's share of profits (margins on audio are RAZOR thin, which cuts the studio and the actors like me) and this way they actually get to make a little profit so they can make MORE AUDIO! GO ON #HelpCreatives make a living!

"Attempting to prevent accents from changing is like sweeping back an incoming tide with a broom – fruitless and defying nature. Instead, we should embrace linguistic diversity, work to combat accentism (discrimination based on a person’s accent), and accept that accents will always continue to change."
My films have, so far, been collaborations with new talent. Everyone brings their skills without pay. I pay expenses, keep the production organised, and guarantee high quality films we're proud of.
When putting out casting or crew calls there's a bias against "free work" that I run into. There are always angry people. I get it, I don't want to be predatory, but I can't pay everyone out of pocket.
Just worked with an #acting#coaching client on a self-tape #audition, and after getting a take that can work, we played around. Added a sort of stop sign: a moment where the thoughts turned and then turned back, and it was so fun to see them fully realizing the character.
Hi to my new followers! Thought I would list some more facts about me:
You might have seen me on Dr Who or Call the Midwife
I once got to hold a Roman replica sword after filming and have been fixated ever since
My cane handle fell (gently) onto quite a famous actor’s head and I’m still mortified
Last time I went to a tea shop, I almost cried at a series of teaspoons because they were too adorable and I couldn’t cope
Welcome, everyone. #LGBTQ#Acting#Queer#Filming#Disabled#Actor
Hey everyone! I’m Ellie, a visually impaired queer actor based in Brighton, UK. I’m really passionate about authentic representation of disability on-screen and uplifting the voices of other disabled actors/creatives. If you’re queer and/or disabled, I’d love to chat! I love feeling represented/seen and I hope I can help others to feel the same.
Also, Mastodon is overwhelming so bear with me while I figure it all out.
Last night I was lucky enough to attend a preview of just a few of the plays that will be performed at the Neurodiversity New Play Festival that is taking place September 7-9 in Providence, Rhode Island. This year’s festival features original works written, performed, and produced by neurodivergent artists from around the country. I saw some powerful performances that can really give you a lot to think about.
The Providence PVD Fest and Waterfire are also happening that weekend so there is plenty to do.
Tickets for the Neurodiversity New Play Festival are available for individual showtimes, or you can get a Festival pass to attend any and all performances at all three venues. Find them at https://www.stensemble.org/.
Tomorrow is the cast table read for a short film I'm directing. It's my second short, and first ever table read! I would be eternally grateful to hear any advice, suggestions, or anecdotes from the filmmaking community here! 🎬
If you don't know actor William Sadler by name, you know his face.
In this one, Bill takes us on a deep, deep dive into the craft of acting, how he first got cast on HBO's "Tales From The Crypt" (we ended up hiring Bill three more times!), and how he came up with his brilliantly funny Grim Reaper character in the Bill & Ted movies.
Best thing about Bill Sadler though? He's a really, really, REALLY nice person.
I had a wonderful time chatting with Beatrice Benedek of Benedel Productions for her inspirational series on artists. We talk passionately about theatre, acting and the ups and downs of working in the arts.
So excited that "The Untimely Revenge of Waffle" has been announced as a Semi-Finalist in the New York International Womens film festival. Big thank yous and congratulations to all of the incredible women involved!
When modern day filmmakers make period films, they regularly go to epic lengths to successfully replicate the visual LOOK of films of the period they’re going for. I just wish someone would try that with the style of the acting. This wouldn’t obviously work for everything, but I imagine it could be really fun! #Filmmaking#Acting#Directing
