@christianselig @pax0707 You basically exchange structure for weight with these. I have a PD Travel 30L and generally like it, but the straps just aren’t great. My 20L Aer have much beefier straps.

@matt @DavidAnson Well, it's technically true but similar to torrent trackers, which can host public domain content but are mostly used for piracy.

Side loading removes the weight of this decision from Apple's shoulders.

Nice, as someone who uses Google Docs a ton at work, I’m sooooo happy that I can easily set new documents to use the pageless layout from now on. I haven’t printed anything from Docs in forever, so this is so much better.

I text my wife more than anyone else, and iOS has nicely put her as the very first person in the share sheet for like 10 years (or whenever this feature was added).

A month or so ago she disappeared and I have to manually message her as if she were a random person. It shouldn’t be that big a deal, but it’s genuinely the most annoying bug I can recall in recent memory. 🫠

@matt @cbirdsong I compared my Plausible and GA data, GA undercounts by around 27% and this has been pretty consistent.

Not sure if even Plausible picks up everyone though.

I don’t journal, so I have no opinion on the Journal app, but yeah, it seems to be pretty basic in 1.0 like other Apple apps. Ask Figma or Miro users how basic Freeform was (still is) when it launched 😝

@matt It’s just a bit weird Apple can’t make it at least cross-platform (on their own platforms) or let third-party apps add content in there.

I can’t journal. Tried many times, just doesn’t work for me. Would love if they could use my phone and other apps to build some kind of a timeline of my life for me.

@matt Totally agreed. Never understood how can you judge the difference between a 7 and an 8 movie (or a restaurant). Personally, I think 1-2-3 stars is enough. Netflix switched from stars to a similar model (Dislike, Like, “Superlike”).

Arc's new AI features are kinda rad. I personally enjoy the one that renames your downloaded files to have more useful names.

I don't always want this, but 99% of the time it's helpful (and I can quickly undo the change with that undo arrow icon)!

Yeah…I think Apple’s marketing team needs to take a victory lap on their messaging that Safari is somehow magic when it comes to RAM usage. The Slack web app is the same thing in Safari, Chrome, or in a dedicated app…RAM usage will vary slightly, but it doesn’t perform miracles. I made a short video about this a couple years ago 😊

I've been on the new Slack for a week now and I feel like my take is pretty boring. It's not particularly better or worse than before for me, but I do like that my theme can now be a gradient.

The new DMs/Activity/Later pages are nice in theory, but I find them visually chaotic.

Reminder that Apple uses a technology literally invented in 1984 to brainwash their users into thinking anyone using a non-Apple device is poor.

This lie is rampant and reinforced by the billionaire CEO of Apple, the richest company to ever exist.

Apple intentionally makes their devices bad at communicating with other devices because it means kids without Apple devices might get bullied into giving Apple more money. Apple knows this, and plays into it.
