The wildest thing about my time learning #Rust is that once I can get it to compile (and take out the todo!()s), 90% of the time the resulting code... just works. There's obviously no such thing as bug free code, but at the same time, whatever thing I'm building does what it's supposed to do and I can move to the next thing. Which radically changes your relationship with the compiler from an adversary to an ally, since it's so helpful and since it gives such strong confidence in its result.

@stevestreza I was learning Rust a couple months ago and I like how fucking fast it is. Just blazing. What I did not like was the garbage the devs came up with for handling strings.

Woke up yesterday vomiting. Every time I nibbled anything or drank some water, my stomach cramped right back up. And when I tried to nap, just as I fell asleep, my stomach would cramp again.

Feeling better today. Food is staying down. Very mild cramping. Coffee isn't aggravating my gut. Whew!

Everything about this is horrifying: The way this guy killed a man for being “annoying,” for making people uncomfortable; the way others helped him do it, the way so many are justifying such acts of violence.

@StillIRise1963 OMG! This happened to my black classmate in 5th grade! He and I had to be on the side of the South. This was at a Catholic school in San José, CA in about 1987.

He refused to participate.

I did not. :-( I am sorry for that. It was wrong for that fucking nun to make us do that, but I wish I had his moral courage then.

Speaking from experience, I've had "we don't do trans stuff here" used against me when seeking help for things like cellulitis. Obviously, there are no trans antibiotics - unless doctors are scared to treat trans people.

Today a student told me the reason she’s been gone for two weeks is because she has been having weird illnesses/symptoms and at one point wound up in the hospital because she was having trouble breathing. I asked her if she’s had COVID and she said “oh it wasn’t COVID this time, but yes, I’ve had it three times.” I asked her if she’d ever heard of people having weird health problems after multiple COVID infections and she said no. She’d never heard of long COVID. The CDC is a failure
