I think the point might be that any other program on your pc can access that db. Which would obviously be very bad. If that is the case I would think it would be patched.

tomatol,

A bunch of African countries rank higher than the US in the HPI happyplanetindex.org/hpi/?show_all=true

Yeah it really does suck. Literally every company is sending me an online coding test. Only one so far had a problem that was related to my daily job.

tomatol,

Same here. I can’t stand the countdown timer

tomatol, (edited )

It’s just a link to an online test and I can do it whenever I want. There’s no interviewer present

tomatol,

Yep I wish it was like that. These days mostly it’s just links to online coding platforms where you do everything on your own and there’s a ticking clock like this https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:1400/1*OCDKFF1ScjIKM3PyPF_PmA.jpeg

tomatol,

Yeah idk why that comment is being upvoted so hard… It sounds very weird like a copy pasta or a bot. He didn’t even answer anything 😅

tomatol,

Thanks! Good tips!

tomatol, (edited )

The type of questions are really bizarre. Time pressure also.

I am a mobile dev so my day to day is dealing with UI, api requests, writing test cases, CI/CD stuff…

This is one example I remember being in a test: geeksforgeeks.org/the-skyline-problem-using-divid…

In that case it was books in a shelf and some other additions but yeah it’s not something that I relate to at all.

tomatol,

Definitely helpful! Thanks

tomatol,

I haven’t seen any communist propaganda at all but I’ve read many comments and posts like this… Are they just referring to leftwing content?

Turns out that my motherboard's WiFi antenna is necessary for Bluetooth to work correctly

I was troubleshooting Bluetooth connection today and I thought that this is somehow related to software (PipeWire, bluez, bluetoothd and all that stuff). But no. Apparently Bluetooth barely works when WiFi antenna is disconnected from my ASUS motherboard....

tomatol,

On Linux I managed to disable the motherboard’s Bluetooth because it showed up as a usb device and then I’m able to use a dongle just fine.

tomatol,

I’m running immich on a Debian machine at home. Anyone can point me to a detailed tutorial on how to achieve this including SSL and with no payments or subscriptions needed?

tomatol,

What they’ve done has given the issue a lot of media attention. I myself had no idea Google was involved with this kind of project.

tomatol,

A: get sent to jail for life

B: get a slap in the wrist while getting huge media attention

tomatol,

Fuck Google And huge respect for these people that are willing to give up their high paying jobs for this. Hope this starts something

tomatol,

We’re talking about basic utilities though. Do you think the average person can start or run such a business? I’m honestly interested in the answer.

tomatol,

Good point but I would say it’s hard to monopolize solar power since it’s easy to just buy your own panels. Wheras it’s not feasible to buld your own power plant.

tomatol,

I never said that. Small scale power is always the way to go! Be it small hydro or solar panels!

It’s very different to have small localized power and distribution networks than controlling a whole country’s power and then giving that whole network to a private company to manage.

tomatol,

I go to firefish.social click on explore and nothing shows up 🤷‍♂️

tomatol,

Whatever enables me to boot different OSs from my phone or arm devices including dual booting and booting from external storage without missing drivers

tomatol,

Samsung phone. You can pick Product Sans as well as other fonts from the settings in Sync actually.

tomatol,

It is definitely not on my phone, I have a Samsung phone.

Sync bundles the font in the apk as you can easily see by unziping it:

It also includes Google Sans which is not licensable.
