@ai6yr i use a 2013 chromebook running Debian, it's great! honestly still more than i need for anything besides games, the only complaint i have is that no one makes websites for small screen computers anymore. "responsive" just means tablets and phones i guess

Some of ya'll struggle with romance. Here are some tips. When you meet her she will probably be curled up. Like you, her response to most new things is to curl up in a ball and wait for it to stop or go away. You are a "new thing." What you need to do is sing her a little song so she knows you are also a pill millipede just like her. Then she'll uncurl.

The sounds are called stridulations made by rubbing parts of the exoskeleton together. "cricricricricri"

Yes, I know my outspoken views about racism and hate kill a lot of opportunities for me.

Still, I decided a long time ago that I don't want to work for anyone who doesn't want to acknowledge the social realities of living in a hateful society that targets people that are not white.

I don't want to collaborate with anyone that requires me to be silent about what I and the people around me experience on the daily to be comfortable.

I don't think the biggest challenge will be building better fedi-specific tools. It's still so new; we're in the experimentation phase, so there is plenty of room to grow.

The challenge will be helping people understand that they need to invest in their digital independence after being slowly robbed by centralized platforms.

There's an entire generation of people that believe Twitter, Facebook, Google, etc., are the extent of what is possible on the internet.

Breaking that paradigm is critical to shifting the web back to the people. Removing the cap on people's ability to imagine beyond centralized platforms has to be a core priority.

@Are0h and tbh, while the fediverse is absolutely part of that project I'm not so sure that Mastodon's "Twitter but foss" model is. there's an infinite space of potential and we've got... the same thing, with less development resources.

    You can't post anything about good urbanism in the Netherlands, or really anywhere in Europe, and not have someone say it wouldn't work in the US or Canada because these countries are "too big".

    Seriously, it's ridiculous how pervasive this excuse is.
