Went to the zoo; got good photos of the local birds, like these killdeer. This is the first time I've seen them.

This pigeon put on a show yesterday:

For the first photo, he stood up and pulled his shoulders and wings together twice with quick motions.

Next, he turned to the side for a good leg and wing stretch—it looked like a ballet warmup as he pushed his foot backward, fanned his tail, and curled his left wing over it all.

The back stretch was last, pulling both wings upward while leaning forward and pushing his tail down. This was just in time for a gust of wind too.

Limbered up, he was ready to dance for a hen that landed on the front edge of the roof.

We went to San Francisco Botanical Gardens yesterday, and I took photos of three new birds. These jays were my favorite.

The ant comes to a break in the stones. Oxalis reaches out from the bottom of the canyon, making an ant-sized bridge. One strand of spider silk also stretches across the break; the ant didn't go that way.
The other side of the break is a desert. The ant continues forward.
