@FlockOfCats i sent my husband "mix tapes" while we were dating VERY long distance, and i still occasionally make one for him! he even got a new one for his birthday last week…in the form of an annotated setlist (song; artist; album; relevant lyrics) for him to make his own playlist on his phone ♡

@FlockOfCats actually, i almost forgot the cutest / dorkiest thing i did: i hand drew my interpretation of a choice lyric on a postcard every day for a month, and mailed him his (numbered) playlist one at a time ☺️

@FlockOfCats yep! but that pizza itself looked kinda ick, so i got a pepperoni + pineapple pizza w/ the pineapple twist crust…it might be pineapple overload, but i'm here for it 😅

the vet did an ultrasound & said that kome kitten has a hairball stuck in her stomach. he's giving her some medicines that should help…

poor little girl! she has been meowing a lot more than usual, but she kinda does that sometimes? same w/ throwing up after eating, cause the poor little glutton eats too fast. but yesterday and today was so loud & getting sick after even very small meals…

i hope she wasn't in any pain for too long, and i hope the medicine helps her to get better soon ❤︎

i have lost count of how many times a week i wish i had brought my copy of "joy of cooking" with me to japan 😢 i never bought a new copy because there aren't cheap ones at used book stores to be had—with someone's handwritten comments / notes in the margins!—and i do NOT want a digital copy 😔

@dandelionwine oh same! that's why i want an older copy, but i may have to resort to just buying a new one 😕 also: i love the moosewood cookbook! i haven't thought of that one in a long time!

sadly, i sold my EXTENSIVE cookbook collection before moving to japan…i have bought one here and there over the last 10 or 12 years, but i dont have a lot of space, so if i don't know how to just make something, i usually google it 😢

but i miss knowing exactly which recipe i wanted from which book!

i found a recipe for quick hummus and—while it was plainer than my usual stuff—it was fast enough for me to make w/out sitting down, it used fewer dishes than average, and eating hummus is better than no hummus so…

@redhero so easy! i used an immersion blender for the first time, so there were no food processor parts to clean! just the end of the immersion blender & the cup i made it in!! ✨

i'm sofa king™ sick of eating the same hospital food over and over and over again, but i'm also glad that they've made me yōshoku ＊alllmost＊ every day, so i'm not going to complain (too much 😅)

also: can i not start a "sandwich war" by simply stating that i would be pleased as punch if japanese cooks, once and for all, stopped using KETCHUP in recipes that clearly call for tomato paste…i've eaten more SWEET minestrone than one person can handle in a lifetime! 😝
