When I created Babka Social, I did so with the intent that it would be a place for Twitter and Facebook users to go.

While I think new users on the instance is great and I encourage and welcome folks, I find it hard to celebrate that people are coming there because they feel unwelcome due to antisemitism or antisemitic admins on other instances.

That's a Fediverse problem.

Blogrolls may have seemed silly to outsiders, even to the bloggers of the day, but they were the first step after basic writing on the web (blogs) that led to the social web we're using here on Twitter, Mastodon, Threads, Bluesky or Facebook.

A blogroll says "these are the sites and people I follow."

@lori @evan it's not even collective punishment. Civilians are being harmed, certainly, but our war is with Hamas. Remember that Hamas intentionally places the civilian population at risk.

Our troops have been showing the world how Hamas fights from schools, homes, hospitals, mosques and other civilian spaces. The IDF is good, but they're not miracle workers.

@paulschoe @lori firstly, the majority of Israelis don't support the radical views of our extremist government. We had been protesting them for about 10 months until the attacks on 7 October.

With respect to the other two articles, there is no mention of how Hamas uses these facilities to fire rockets into Israel, and store weapons to use to attack us.

Read today (on Kagi.com - great search engine), something that seems unbelievable to me.

The average Google user searches three or four times per day or about 100 times per month.
According to DuckDuckGo's data, their monthly average is about 30 searches per person, or one per day on average.

How many searches a day would you guess you do? Personally, I’m at 38 searches and it’s only 10:30am.

This Chanukah is complicated. To me, this is a festival about hope and perseverance in the face of overwhelming danger. It is also a festival about miracles.

@daj while this doesn't address the issue you raise ( @pfefferle does a better job at that), you do have the option to customise the "handle" part of that address to something more like "@you"
