Place i've been getting my HRT is no longer able to cover lab fees because of losing grants over the new laws... Now that checkups are required every 3 months that's like $3000+ a year not even including prescriptions or visit fees...

A suggestion for those who still wear masks because of #COVID :

If you get questions why you are wearing one, simply say:

"Because I don't want to infect anyone."

This shifts the conversation away whether or not you are a "coward" for worrying about a "harmless flu" or whatever rot is making the rounds. If the persons talking to you interpret this to mean that you are infected right now, they might back off and leave you alone - a win.

If they actually ask you about it, you can say: "I don't know - it's been a while since my last test. Better to be safe."

And if they ask whether wearing a mask doesn't bother you, you can answer:

"I have neither hypersensitivity with things touching my skin, nor any respiratory ailments that would make breathing with a mask difficult. So the discomfort is only minor, and I am more than happy to make that sacrifice for others."

This ought to make them squirm, for it implies without stating that those who refuse to wear masks are either selfish, or that they have some kind of disability that would make wearing one intolerable. And since COVID denial and ableism go hand in hand, it should be interesting for them to try and weasel out of this one. #CovidIsNotOver

@juergen_hubert Meanwhile i have hypersensitivity and respiratory issues and i put up with it and wear one so my respiration doesn't get worse. For those that have it worse than me and can't, this is at those who are able and refuse to protect us, not you.

If the ho-hum public health/farming subsidy ad campaign “got milk” ran today? Someone would have a meltdown down about it. Someone would say milk has micro chips— someone would be grouchy about propping up Big Cow and the less than perfect dairy industry— then someone else would try to burn the milk or shoot it. no both.

I’m not even saying “got milk” was perfect or harmless- just thinking about how differently things would go down.

@futurebird i wish they'd backed something nutrient dense that the majority of humans aren't allergic to. Everyone told me i was faking my asthma my whole life, quit dairy and i could finally breath for the first time!
Sadly though i actually started seeing 'got milk' billboards and ads here about five months ago. Nothing like when i was growing up but they're back.

Emmett Brock was attacked by an LASD officer after he gave the officer "the finger" when he saw the officer berating a woman.

Then, because they're transphobic they did an invasive body inspection & charged him w/ "resisting arrest" (there was no reason for the arrest) Put him in the women's section.

Emmett's having a hard time so here is his legal fund. No one deserves this kind of treatment.

Forests are cleared daily to mistreat more animals. Humans need nutrients, not dead bodies. We could all eat plenty and be healthy with 10% of the land use on a plant based diet (if capitalist colonialism quit interfering). The people in these forests deserve their homes and we desperately need the biodiversity for healthy ecosystems.

    @Resister @vegan Definitely much propaganda pushing this way of thinking. The propaganda has real power over choices too. Forcing dairy into school lunches, few vegan options available in 'food deserts', fewer and more expensive 'convenience' foods for people who are disabled or overworked. i wish i had access to messages like yours when i was younger, when all the propaganda around me insisted veganism was impossible. The systems MUST be changed. Until every cage is empty!

    So I have a question for other vegans.

    Late 00s probably my reading of land use, climate change, animal agriculture emissions papers & articles led to me biting bullet & doing a complete 180 and going , , mostly .

    Something came up in conversation today. My skin seemed to slow it's aging quite a lot from that point. I wondered if other long-term decade half plus vegans & plantbased had personal perspectives & experiences related to that??

    @vegan @vegans Reducing consumption of animal discharge and bodies that have been tortured reduces your intake of cortisol and other stress related hormones. Gives your body some space to relax and care for itself a bit.

    I'm going to keep sharing this info until it sinks in.

    Young voters do not get significantly more or less politically activated. Voter suppression gets more or less effective. Ballot drop boxes and mail-in voting, prevents suppression.

    People do not become more conservative as they get older. There is not an increasing difference between white GOP and Dem voters as they get older.

    Black people don't live long, and many brown voters aren't born yet.

    A group of charts showing the difference in Democrat leading and Republican leaning US citizens by generation and race. The chart show that for white Americans there is no significant difference in republican or democrat leaning by generation.

    @mekkaokereke i try to express this to people often. It's so disrespectful to hear the same 'the young people are such free thinkers though' every few years. Capitalism and colonialism are hard filters of marginalized lives. We just don't make it to old age... And then they pretend we just got more right wing over the years and crystallized on it. Feeds the lie that conservatism is some how 'wise' or that other ideologies are childish and it's so infuriating.
