Here's a tiny questionnaire for those of you that use non-Latin scripts:
What script do you use (besides Latin)?
How do you use this script on a keyboard? (Do all the glyphs fit on a single keyboard, or does it require a special software input method? Is it handled by your apps or by your operating system?)
By answering this, you'll help me consider some things for a hobby project of mine (which I probably will ramble more than enough about here in the future). Thanks a lot 🥰
@bragefuglseth@gregorni the same with the Swedish layout (but it has ä and ö).
Danish also uses the same set as Norwegian (but they are swapped, I think).
In fact most keyboards sold (and laptops) has a generic "Nordic" layout with all printed on these keys.
Also, Finnish uses the Swedish layout (although the Finnish language doesn't make use of Å).
#GNOME Maps git main now uses the vector renderer by default! 🥳
The venerable #OpenStreetMap Mapnik raster tiles has served us well, but the time has now come to step up to give the new vector style and implementation some more testing before being official in #GNOME 47 in September!
I don't think there is a substantial difference in #UX between #MacOS and #Win11. There are lots of visual 'skinning' tweaks but the basic structural model of files/folders/2d windowing/invisible clipboard feels pretty baked at this point.
Are there any #Linux distros that break the mold? Shake things up a bit?
My point is that I feel all desktop #UXs have pretty much stagnated and no one is really trying anything different. I'd LOVE to hear of any crazy experiments.

@gregorni@sonny@tbernard Yeah, this is just the thing we'd like to be able to do with Maps for (some) openstreetmap.org URLs. There's already support for parsing them as commandline arg
Also if Latvia and Lithuania DO manage to re-establish a #CrossBorderRail passenger train connection, that will leave only 2 internal borders of the EU where there are rail lines but there are no passenger services

@jon Latvia - Lithuania should get it with Rail Baltica, which is already under way… I think the construction work in the picture around Riga central station is related to the project…
@bragefuglseth@fkinoshita opening hours is a tricky one, as the specification is quite complicated. Possible there could be a simplified variant supporting the common ones (also the one we show in table form with tranlated strings in the place "cards" is a subset, if it falls outside of this (like specifying different times depending on time-of-year) we just bail and display the bare string value (this could be debatable if maybe it shouldn't be shown at all in these cases)
