If so, my question could be modified to ask
"What percentage of incinerated is used with some sort of energy recovery & what % is not"
In my limited experience, both happen, and in the UK at least, downcycling is reported as recycling by my local authority (so I'd be worried it wouldn't hit that bucket, hence the question)

Looking at social media rn and I keep seeing articles about: ever larger, ever more-expensive cars, SUVs and trucks out-selling smaller vehicles, rants calling for the abolition of public transport, hate campaigns directed at cyclists, an insistence that driving is the ONLY valid form of transport—

The car industry is panicking. End of fossil fuel burners plus €10,000 for a car-sized battery pack equals end of a viable motoring economy (cheap second-hand cars can't exist in an EV future).

Science/coastal hivemind, I need your help. We’re working on the underwater acoustics of small all-electric boats (almost certainly far less underwater noise pollution than engines). We would like to do some trials - just measuring the sound near an electric boat - but we’re struggling to find someone in (or very near) the UK who has an electric boat we could use/hire. Has anyone got any ideas or know anyone who owns an electric boat?

This isn't something we see that often from the #IsleofWight but the weather conditions yesterday were perfectly clear.

These wind turbines are situated near Brighton, some 50 miles or so away. We were up on #CulverDown. I posted a video from there yesterday afternoon.

The Nab Tower is in the picture which is a well known Solent landmark.

just watched a video about the lack of bicycles in hollywood productions. e.g. there are post apocalypse shows where there's no fuel or they can't use engines for other reasons, and the characters are shown walking or riding a horse. they never try bikes even though it's the most popular mode of transportation on the planet. Daryl from TWD on a bicycle? uncool. if a protagonist is doing it, it's a comedy. riding a bicycle is seen as a ridiculous thing to do unless you're a child. I am stunned.
