Dat betoogde BBB-leider Van der Plas de afgelopen tijd regelmatig. Vandaag ging ze zelf naar de EU-hoofdstad om te vragen wat de mogelijkheden zijn. Na afloop noemde ze het vooral belangrijk dat een nieuwe landbouwminister, mogelijk van haar partij, een goede verstandhouding met Brussel opbouwt. "Je moet heel veel investeren in relaties", zei Van der Plas op de vraag wat ze gehoord heeft waar ze verder mee kan. In het hoofdlijnenakkoord staat dat de nieuwe regering "met lef" alles op alles gaat zetten om een nieuwe mestvrijstelling (derogatie) voor de boeren te regelen. Voorzichtiger Maar na het gesprek in Brussel was Van der Plas voorzichtiger. "Heel veel mensen hebben het idee dat wij hier even met de vuist op tafel gaan slaan: geef ons die derogatie terug, nu! Maar ik begrijp natuurlijk ook wel dat het niet zo werkt."
