@db_geek Man kann auch sagen, dass KI endlich vermag, was alles Reden über die ganzen Jahre nicht vermochte: Den Leuten die Augen darüber zu öffnen, dass Wertschöpfung online zu großen Teilen darin besteht, dass Platform Economy Ausnutzen von individuell bereitgestellten Inhalten bedeutet. (Fast) Immer und (fast) überall.

Stack Overflow announced that they are partnering with OpenAI, so I tried to delete my highest-rated answers.

Stack Overflow does not let you delete questions that have accepted answers and many upvotes because it would remove knowledge from the community.

So instead I changed my highest-rated answers to a protest message.

Within an hour mods had changed the questions back and suspended my account for 7 days.

@ben It's awful business practice, but not surprising at all. SO is tanking because of CoPilot/ChatGPT et al.
They have two options, and I'm sure this means they've decided not to try and sue big tech.

Demokratie, heißt es immer, das sei, wenn wir alle uns aus freien Stücken eine Regel geben. Aber das stimmt natürlich nicht. Demokratie ist dann, wenn eine irgendwie qualifizierte Mehrheit eine Regel durchsetzt, die eine Minderheit dann befolgen muss und zwar gerade, OBWOHL sie es NICHT will.

Ich mag anmerken, dass sich im Strafrecht durchaus deswegen der Unterschied zwischen Ordnungswidrigkeiten, Straftaten und schweren Straftaten ergibt.

Im April fielen 64 l/m², was ein Plus von 44 % gegenüber der Referenzperiode 1991-2020 entspricht. Das „Nass“ ging als Regen, Graupel und Schnee nieder. Während im NW teilweise das 1,5- bis 2-fache an Niederschlag beobachtet wurde, lagen die Werte vor allem im O unter dem Soll.

Die Abbildung stellt die relative Abweichung der monatlichen Niederschlagssumme zum langjährigen Mittel (1991-2020) für den April 2024 für Deutschland dar. Im Verhältnis fiel der meiste Niederschlag im Norden, Nord-Westen und im Bayerischen Wald, sehr trocken dagegen blieb es im Osten und auch im Süden Deutschlands.

The alarm signals right now from Tesla (multiple senior people stepping down, massive axing of entire departments, rumored pivot to software/AI only) are bonkers.

Die Dissidentinnen treten explizit nicht konträr sondern komplementär zu progressiven Mitbewerberinnen bei der Kommunalwahl an.

Umso verstörender finde ich wie sich die Bratenpartei substanzlos stichelnd an uns abarbeitet anstatt eigene themat. Akzente zu setzen, und der sehr Grünen-nahe Dresdner ADFC die regionale #Mobilitätswende lieber mit den Autolobbyisten von CDU und FW diskutiert als die regionale Bike-Ikone @Azetbur zur Diskussion einzuladen.

(The answer is very clearly no. I'd not be half the scientist I am would it not have been for the fact that at least some lecturers made me "shut up and calculate". That's not to say that'd be the only part of deserving a degree (or being prepared for the workplace for that metter) - it sure isn't - but I feel that we humans are way too easily snagged into conveniences that - to quote @tante again - come back to bite us later.)

@samir Glad you asked: Learn to hypnotize yourself.

Will not give resources, but there are plenty on the web; you can start with a guided meditation on youtube.

Also helps with the headaches.

To me hypnosis these days is: prompt your brain like it is an LLM that is actually competent. It's a hell of fun that it works.

(Stay away from NLP. It's a wildly overcomplicated way of doing things.)

@inthehands Using AI seems like the software would make it easy to say 'by design' and ignore a bug. And bugs can be anything from annoyances to security flaws...I've tested software and trying to be a pseudo user and advocate for a better product ran up against developer/PM reluctance to fix the code and that's without AI...

No, indeed. Language is the compromise of encoding abstractions between optimal encoding (like Huffmann or Shannon) and complete, yet noisy description (like taking a 720 degree tomography).

@inthehands @jenniferplusplus We can argue about all kinds of subtleties here, what part is evolutionary and what part is culturally informed, but looking at ONLY the two-and-a-half-year-old at home I can assert with 100% certainty that despite the lack of coherence in his speech (although he's about 12 months ahead of his peers in semantics and semiotics), he's intelligent and LLMs are not: He can communicate and pick up on intent non-verbally and use tools he's virtually not seen ever before.

@inthehands @jenniferplusplus The story is not about the child obviously, because that would be both presumptuous and childish (ha!), but rather about the notion of intelligence and the lack of depth on both LLMs and the grifter's perspective thereof.
