Fascinert av DNB. Jeg sluttet forsåvidt å bruke Sbanken da de kjøpte den, men tenkte å stenge den helt her om dagen. Måtte laste ned ny app som kunne fortelle at jeg måtte laste ned DNB-appen, og da jeg åpnet den, fantes det ingenting. Jeg hadde tømt kontoene og slettet kortet, så det er ikke krise, men allikvel.

    I høve Star Wars-dagen i dag, den 25. mai, har eg lyst til å tipse om boka Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View, utgjeven i 2017.

    Dette er ei gøy og spennande novellesamling med 40 historier som følgjer historia til filmen, men sett frå perspektivet til andre rollefigurar. Eit kapittel handlar til dømes om tante Beru, eit anna om Tonnika-systrene. Det er til og med eit kapittel sett frå perspektivet til ein musdroide ombord på Dødsstjerna!

    It appears Google's AI overview is really just RAG over the top search results (= search stuff on the web given the user query, let LLM answer query given the contents of search result)

    Naturally, redditors have started poisoning search results. Google ranks Reddit very highly. This issue is basically not fixable unless Google largely ignores Reddit content except for known good content, or develops a model they can use to filter adversial content (which is basically impossible)

    There's been so many Windows enshitification moments where people say this is our best opportunity for helping more people get their freedom trough .

    Now we have maybe the best of these moments yet – W11 demanding new PCs, W10 being killed off, and this whole Recall shit.

    Yet, after all this, I've never seen any really newbie friendly website explaining why and how to try Linux – with simple text and elegant design.

    It seems to me the designers would be perfect for making this.

    @codemonkeymike Off the top of my head: short & sweet at the front, internal links to longer texts explaining more, no technical lingo, lots of screenshots only of GUI. Needs to cover at least:

    • Reasons to drop W (mostly inside a link, no reason to expand on the front page b/c most people there are likely interested)
    • What software can you run and what can you not, inc easy workarounds and who might not be able to switch
    • One recommend distro
    • Easy guide to choose between KDE and Gnome

    • How to install. Serious question: Would it be possible to make a USB flasher that runs in the browser, so that you could just tell the person to plug in a memory stick and press this one button, and it flashes the iso for you with no extra steps? If not, make it as simple as possible, perhaps download just a flasher which then dls the correct ISO
    • Where and how to get support

    The best would be if LUGs started meeting up again and it could connect you to your local LUG

    Little adjustments to the composer, now available for testing on

    • Allow minimize composer, useful for temporarily stashing it aside, especially on PWA where the composer can't pop out to another window. Should work even while posting to the server (loading state).
    • Add 'More…' in custom emoji suggestion list to open the extended Custom Emojis picker UI.
    • Add 'More…' in mentions list to open extended Accounts picker UI.

    Possibly still buggy. Feedback welcomed 🙇‍♂️

    Demo of the composer on Phanpy, showing how it can be popped out to another window, then popped back in. It can also be minimized. The new 'More…' menu is also shown from the custom emojis and mentions auto-suggestion list while typing. Clicking the menu will open the extended UI for further picking custom emojis or mentions.

    I'm in the process of removing a lot of art from Instagram and other Meta sites, due to their decisions to use our data to feed their AI. Instead, I am planning on only posting art that is protected with Glaze: a sort of overlay that confuses AI scrapers. I'd recommend that all artists and creatives on Twitter and Meta do the same.     OpenStreetMap is awesome. But vandalism to get an unfair advantage in a game (#cheating) is not.

    But I also blame Pokémon Go; the game should have never trusted a source data blindly in the first place; if you know the Internet, you should have predicted this.
