This banner is more complicated than you'd think. โ€‹:drgn_mlem:โ€‹ I wanted to give the header a banner-colored background that (almost) never looks disconnected from the banner.
Your first instinct probably would be to make the header transparent and add some empty space to the top of the image, but then then the padding scales with the image and you get a humongous padding on wide viewports and a way too small padding on narrow viewports.

My solution is a border-image which uses a 1px slice from the banner image. It scales exactly how I want most of the time.

@volpeon Well, the only think I could think of is giving the image a large margin. Then, you can set it as background of a div and essentially crop it.

Edit: Doesn't SVG have a property for the background color? ๐Ÿค”

Something that has always had a bit of a nagging feeling to me where open source is concerned, the all or nothing situation it demands.

There's a lack of some control over a project you start and created from scratch and "open sourced" I'm anti- open source in this regard. When I make stuff I make it with passion and I never want someone to come along and fork it as long as the project is being maintained by me and available to all to use, it is MINE, not yours - But what I do believe in is that software SHOULD be free to most people, and those who can afford it should share in the wealth.

I think my desire would be something like a source-available license that defaults to a very liberal open source license (MIT/BSD) upon death or say 5 years. OR it is the source available license and can never be any other license after that, if it is ever licensed in a way outside of the initial terms of the source available, or a MIT/BSD or (whatever the choice is) - the entire tree defaults to MIT/BSD

Effectively let me build my toy in my own way while sharing it with everyone else who wants to contribute, allow me to own it and be proud of it, allow me to nurture my creation allow me the privilege of selling it without the worry that some fork might take all the effort I put into it. And then let everyone have at it!

I'm a bit surprised that the IMGUI applications managed to conserve so much energy despite having idle optimisations disabled. This means that the power hungry graphics hardware is constantly active redrawing the same frame. I assume some optimisation on the OS or kernel level must have stepped in.

I just heard the bad news that I am probably going to need a new job starting in July.

So, before beginning the regular search, I wanted to ask my Fedi friends if anyone could use a capable C++ programmer with lots of graphics and networking experience.
