@mekkaokereke Understandable. I crossposted because I liked the analogy, not to draw you in. It's cool just to sit outside and laugh at the attrociously bad takes as they twist themselves into pretzels.
Assuming you're an anarchist or otherwise leftist radical, what radicalized your position?
For me it was a combination of seeing the rampart corruption of the Greek state and the sloth and hypocrisy of the KKE in my own family. Then afterwards it was the alienation of my own wage-slavery.
@Plopp@rockSlayer Not necessarily, althought ADHD people tend to be anti-authoritarian. However ASD people tend to have a very strong sense of justice. But they can still be factually wrong. But often whatever we believe is right, we believe it and push for it strongly. This is why you usually find ASD people with radical beliefs, from Anarchism, to TERFs to Objectivists etc.
@aral Great talk! I thoroughly agree with your take on startups, but I'm curious what is the alternative when someone comes from the working class with no capital and has an idea for an online service which has the potential to sustain them. What other structures can we use to fund some initiatives, because, speaking as someone who's been working on FOSS for the past year, donations don't cut it.
@erlend I'd love to hook this sort off solution into the ai horde and use our kudos system to incentivize people making such accounts instead of use oauth2 providers. If you're up for a collaboration, I could start working on it asap.
Also the invite for the matrix doesn't work for the me as it says I'm not a member of prerequisite spaces or rooms
HIGHLY recommend Fediblock for user '@MKULTRADiamond' as they're tagging random users and spamming porn with no CW. Receipts attached in the screenshot.
Edit: The whole instance is Freeze Peach. Toss it in the trash.
Man it would be so cool if there was a support network who handle all the stuff #ADHD people are incapable of doing which would cause massive impact to their lives. I spend almost all my free time coding #FOSS to improve the global commons. It would be great if someone who gets value out of my work would help me in turn with state paperwork. 😢
We started this account less than 6 months ago. It's going pretty well – thanks to you: 4.2k followers, lots of interactions, questions, and comments. 🎉
A couple of weeks ago, the European Broadcasting Union (#EBU) asked us to write a guest article about our experience with #Mastodon / the #Fediverse, explain the basics, and point out the advantages. :mastodon:
Challenge accepted. 👍
So here's the finished post by @lxplm, hot off the #blog press. ⌨️
@dw_innovation Since you're posting mostly articles, do consider (cross-)posting to #lemmy as well, as it's way more set for these sort of posts. You can even post in to lemmy from mastodon by @-ing the community you want.
“In a drastic attempt to protect their beachfront homes, residents in Salisbury, Massachusetts, invested $500,000 in a sand dune to defend against encroaching tides. After being completed last week, the barrier made from 14,000 tons of sand lasted just 72 hours before it was completely washed away”
I'm facepalming so hard today. On the discussion of whether #lemmy should start supporting plugins in order for more developers to be able to inject the extra functionality they need, I have a rust fanboi insisting that no, the better approach is to make every admin who needs this compile lemmy from scratch to add the extra functionality. According to them this can be totally as easy as plugins.
@damon This discussion has been ongoing on for a day now. I've been trying in vain to make them see reason. But no, they just now effectively argued that Godot Engine doesn't really need plugins since modules exist...
@mkutz1492@damon Plugin, you download and plug into the code in runtime. Think firefox add-ons or wordpress plugins.
modules you have to compile along with the software. Godot Engine uses this to add, say, support for other programming languages or very low-level changes to its C++ code.
Oh gawds, now they say lemmy administration should be more like nixos and we should develop that instead of developing a plugin framework. Then we can recompile compile everything easy-peasy.
First meme (hopefully good) (lemm.ee)
