By the way, two main reasons I am against quote posting on here:
Well, dunking and piling on
"Takei-ing" where a celebrity or their social media team quotes some actual good content, only adds "This!" or a catch phrase ("Oh my!") to the post and then reaps likes and boosts the original creator deserves.
@coffeepine I agree that quote-posting sometimes gets abused, but there are also reasonable use cases for it.
I have used quote-posting for two reasons:
I'm boosting an old post of my own because it's suddenly relevant again, but I also want to add context without editing the original post.
I'm boosting another post and want to include additional context, like when I was trying to help Claudia get her air conditioner replaced and wanted people to see the original message as well as my silly offer in exchange for people donating.
It is fascinating to me how they made two records that are essentially ethereal and timeless but live they could not shed the punk band they were at heart.
Everything around us just seems to disintegrate. And people often come at me with "But capitalism cannot be responsible for every shitty thing in your life!"
Except...it is. You can literally look at anything broken in your surroundings and there is a 95% chance that if you follow the chain of causality, you end up looking at the economic system.
It's broken, it is so fundamentally fucked. Once you see and understand the pattern, it is IMPOSSIBLE to ignore.
Why do we cling to this?
The most important resource each and every one of us values the most anyway is available to us 24/7 in abundance. It's a freak of nature because if you give out said resource, you'll get it in return. It is even scientifically proven that this is not some romantic notion of mine.
The one thing that makes ALL OF US rich is connection to each other. That's it. That's what all the bullshit we are told to achieve boils down to.
All we have to do is create communities and systems that maintain each other.
Once you see this, you realise it everywhere, and it breaks my heart that - even though we are many - we are so thoroughly under the thumb of a few sociopaths who cannot feel this.
Be radical in whatever way you see fit. Especially, be radical in approaching your fellow humans again and again. Reach out, and be reached out to. It will make you happier.
@Alice@coffeepine Some of us actually DO like Biden. Is he perfect? Not by a long shot, but he is not a dictator. Both sides are definitely not the same.
Hmm, I now have this "Hello Oakland" sticker, and I need to find a place where it could possibly be found by an American tourist but where it also is ABSOLUTELY out of place.
