Also, Wonderdog was very clingy and anxious before I left. Wouldn't let me move anywhere by myself. Last time I disappeared was to hospital and I came back smelling all wrong and changed, then disappeared again for another week... I don't think she's forgiven partner for losing me that time! #CaityTrip

Arvo, Toots! Well, the day has arrived when I have to pack for my trip. Which means that instead of my usual lazy running in about in creased and crumpled shirts, I actually have to drag out the ironing board and iron them. What a bother! Wonderdog is already not feeling well (her senior dog arthritis is playing up badly) and she is quite upset at the idea of suitcase, backpack, and losing Mum. Oh dear!

Aaaaand right before bedtime I learned the private mental health hospital run by my psychiatrist has "suddenly collapsed." Which could mean no more psychiatrist or mental health nurse.
Great.
Trying NOT to think about this right before I travel.

Picked up the lovely French trio again and delivered them to the concert hall. It was dusk so the cockies were deafening, which amused them no end. Looking forward to hearing them do Beethoven tonight, once I've wrangled all the nannas in and out of the lift.

@MarkAsser @sister_ratched I was in a VW Beetle that rolled on a dirt road outside Wagga...with 5 adults in it. Well, young adults. Young, stupid adults. The driver had been very stupid indeed and didn't know how to drive on gravel roads. 2 of those people are now Nanas. (I am old enough to be a Nana but only qualify on honorary grounds.) 1 is a Grandpa... and 1 is no longer with us, having continued to display poor judgement in driving matters.

@MarkAsser @sister_ratched My Sister never held a driver’s license her entire life. She apparently rode a moped in Taipei for a while, but gave that up, citing most people’s casual observation of the “traffic suggestions” rather than road rules. Very sensible.
She did sometimes sneakily drive one of the ferries in Sydney Harbour very early in the morning, one her way home from her Post Office sorting job, early on - but we won’t tell anyone that the ferry driver let her do that, will we?

@MarkAsser @timrichards Oh. Yes. Well, that’s Eurovision out then, because I think SIL has Mother’s Day plans (unless brother is working - she may have decided to do something anyway. I am entirely at the mercy of the family this trip, which is probably only fair. And unlike your Mum - no champagne…)

@anathema_device We’re back to giving her the doggy Meloxicam. If I wasn’t off to Adelaide, Wonderdog would be at the vets on Tuesday - but getting her there is a two person job. I expect she will demand the electric blanket be turned on for her even while I’m gone.

Weird weather today - I think there must be a storm front moving in.

@Fury Interesting - I wonder what happened to the use of light therapy lights? My Dad used to get seasonal depression very badly (he lived somewhere that had bad winters, often stayed foggy all day, and he’d go to work in dark and come home in dark) and he found there were special lights that helped. I know ages ago my psychiatrist was using them, but I don’t know if this is in favour anymore?

It's weird to see so many people openly talk about struggling with (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) because I've been dealing with it since I was a kid and had gotten used to having to explain it to everyone including many doctors, nurses, and paramedics (and thereafter having to tolerate most laypeople on top of medical personnel dismissing me as being over anxious hypochondriac). POTS being a "trending topic" and an actual hashtag because of long covid is a real reality shift for me.

@gersande @stufromoz Having had it for 30+ years (#MECFS) yep. Suddenly everyone is like oh yeah, #POTS is sos weird, where before before I used to have to say “It s a weird blood pressure trick” as shorthand.
