Idea: an anti-burglary sensor that turns on a bunch of those extremely bright stadium lights, except indoors, making it literally impossible to see due to too much light.

Mostly harmless and mostly undefeatable.

Stupid cars AND stupid drivers. Why would people pay for this shit (and also, why didn't he hit the fucking brakes 5 seconds earlier?)

There are times (sometimes lasting weeks) where I can bang out a ton of fancy code. I wrote a huge complex thing over the course of a month or two that'll be Tapestry's sync/database. I think it's pretty darned cool and it was complex as hell.

But I'll be damned if, over the last couple days, I can do something as simple as rearrange a few SwiftUI views to make some progress on anything else.

Not because it's hard, but because I just... can't? Brain no worky.

brunoph,
@brunoph@breakpoint.cafe avatar

@bigzaphod I can 100% relate. Sometime video games help get my brain going again. Sometimes I have to ride it out. It sucks. But you're not alone!

brunoph,
@brunoph@breakpoint.cafe avatar

@bigzaphod this is another reason I will do my best to never work in an organization that does scrum/agile ever again. My brain is not a ticking clock, reliably ringing every morning at 8am for stand ups.

If helicopters were a thing from a movie people would be pissed about how physically implausible they are

@hannah and what's crazy is that they're not even the most implausible-looking thing that can fly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlgS6dPhBzc

What are some numbers in your field that anyone else in the field would identify without even thinking about it, but folk outside may have no idea. Just the numbers, no explanations. Yet.

@rayhatfield Fun fact: this process is colloquially known as "Brazil Nut effect" and it is an unsolved problem in physics https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Granular_convection

I honestly cannot believe that we’ve been around for seven years! Incredibly grateful that I get to do this for a living.

We’re going to make it a very special 7th birthday.

If you have a Nikon Z camera, and an AF-S 200-500 ƒ/5.6 lens, you should seriously consider getting the 1.4x teleconverter.

Don't worry about it becoming an ƒ/8 lens. These cameras are too good. I'll post more photos later, but have a look at this one, taken at full 700mm, ƒ/8:
