So the World Central Kitchen convoy a) cleared its route with the IDF beforehand, b) traveled on an approved route, and c) departed at an approved time, so d) the IDF knew exactly who it was killing when it struck the convoy three (3) times.

It was so obviously deliberate, and so deliberately cruel—not just to murder these people, but to terrorize other aid workers into abandoning the Palestinians to be starved to death. To prove the IDF’s impunity and reach, and to compel the IDF’s defenders into apologizing for yet another unforgivable atrocity.

argumento,
@argumento@hispagatos.space avatar

@HeavenlyPossum Indeed I agree the objective was to terrorize any NGO or aid org. in order to keep them from providing aid to the Palestinians. A most miserable thing to do.

Joe Biden is guilty of facilitating genocide, and he shouldn't be welcomed anywhere.

Not only the US used it's veto power in the UN SC 4 times (if memory doesn't fail me), the US government just approved a billion dollars arms shipment to Israel (who is plausibly committing genocide according to the ICJ AND disregarding the las UN SC resolution calling for a cease fire).

No sympathy for genocide nor for the people that fund it.

I just listened to Israel's spokesperson David Mentzer say that "Iran is an enemy to all free nations", and what can I say.

Iran is an enemy, first and foremost, to its own people. Same as all governments, all governments serve the ruling clase, be it local or international, and exploit the people they rule over. The Iranian theocracy is particularly bad in many respects, but an enemy to all free nations?

The US, Israel and NATO just hype up Iran's wickedness to justify further aggression.

argumento,
@argumento@hispagatos.space avatar

Same as Saddam Hussein a couple of decades back, who got casted as the bad guy in Hot Shots or South Park films, Iran is now being propped up as the big bad.

Little does it mater that Al Qaeda or ISIS are open enemies to Iran shia government, all "Islamic fundamentalism" is now being traced to Iran. Same as there was zero connection between the secular, pan-arabist Baath party and Al Qaeda.

It's just propaganda. Will the West fall for the usual bigotry and shortsightedness?

faab64, to iran

several high ranking officials in Iran have asked Khamenei to declare Iran to be in state of war with Israel

Since Israel bombed Iranian consulate and openly admitted doing this, it's Iran's right to see that an act of war of agression that gives Iran the right to self defense against an aggressor is granted to Iran under Article 51 of the UN charter:

Article 51

“Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken measures necessary to maintain international peace and security. Measures taken by Members in the exercise of this right of self-defence shall be immediately reported to the Security Council and shall not in any way affect the authority and responsibility of the Security Council under the present Charter to take at any time such action as it deems necessary in order to maintain or restore international peace and security.”

No doubt the bombing of the consulate is an act of war on part of Israel.

I fear what could happen next. I believe Iran will show prudence and act via its local allies (Hezbollah, Kataib Hezbollah or the Yemeni interim gov), but frankly there's no reason why Iran couldn't enter a state of war with Israel.

Then again, I really hope someone puts a stop to Israel, anyone. I just don't think Iran should be the one to do it, but protests and resistance around the world.

argumento,
@argumento@hispagatos.space avatar

All the more reason for Iran to act prudently. Any reaction on their part will be spinned as "aggression" by western media, and Netanyahu would love further American involvement in the region.

The so called Internationals Institutions are bankrupt.

Neither the General Assembly nor the Security Council of the UN can stop an ongoing genocide. The USA, after blocking a resolution calling for a cease fire a number of times, "allowed" (their own words) a UNSC cease fire resolution only to undermine it calling it (falsely) "not binding".

The system is not broken, it was built to work this way. It was built not to stand in the way of the Imperialist agenda of the "big five" (...)

argumento,
@argumento@hispagatos.space avatar

(...) (that is, the five winners of WW2, who are the permanent members of the SC). That's why the SC was impotent to stop the war in Ukraine, and that's why it can't stop Israel, who is a proxy (with a lot of agency for a proxy) of Western, particularly British and American, Imperialism.

The system works, and it works against us. Why shouldn't we burn to the ground a system that enforces genocide, be it by action or inaction?

argumento,

The ongoing genocide in Palestine should be the final call for world revolution. It's on us to make it so.

Question: my bedroom (as opposed to music room) desktop has only 4GB of ram in it.

And it is slow as fuck.

So I'm stuck using the music room computer for things I'd rather not, like social media.

Plus, streaming video is now buffering on it even though it has a directly wired Ethernet connection.

I want to know:

Will increasing the RAM speed it up?

Does the term "too much is always better than not enough" apply in cases like this.

And finally, are RAM chips all the same size and interchangeable with any motherboard or not?

argumento,
@argumento@hispagatos.space avatar

@CosmicTrigger

More RAM will deff make your machine faster, 4 GB is rather low for today's (out of proportion) standards.

There's not one RAM standard, but many. There's DDR 2, 3, 4, and different shapes for laptops and desktops.

Take one of the RAM dims out, check the numbers and shape, you'll probably can find 8 GB for cheap and your PC should support them (motherboards have RAM limits, new ones can go up to 32 GB, 64 GB and more).

8GB and a decent CPU should be enough for streaming, sm.

Let's be clear on what it means that a famine in the technical sense is imminent for 1.1 million people in Gaza according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC).

One of the criteria is 2 deaths per 10,000 people from outright starvation or the interaction of malnutrition and disease... PER DAY.

The people who understand this stuff are saying that a situation is imminent where there are AT LEAST 200 starvation deaths every day.

Hamas is not a "terrorist group", it's a resistance movement.

The problem didn't start in 1948, but with the unlawful training and arming of hagana and irgun forcesmby the Brits.

1948 wasn't " a war", it was ethnic cleansing.

Israel is the occupying power, as such, they are responsible for the violence, both the violence occupation needs to maintain itself and the violence that surged as a response to said occupation.

Just learned the term "Holocaust inversion" and what can I say, Zionism gives you brainworms.

It's called comparison, not "inversion", people COMPARE what the Nazis did to the Jews to what the Zionists are doing to Palestinians because it's objectively similar. No one is "inverting" the role of the Jews and making them the perpetrators of a Holocaust out off weird antisemitic tropes, we are comparing similar levels of violence.

Zionism gives you Shai Hulud sized brainworms.
