Ok so I have a slightly embarrassing question

What's a good text editor for Linux,

  • that supports regexes,
  • and has a graphical user interface designed sometime this millenium,
  • and that isn't emacs or vim,
  • please don't recommend emacs or vim

@kaye I use Helix Editor but that doesn’t have a GUI (it’s modal. Modern, but modal.)

Otherwise, VSCodium runs on Linux. I believe Sublime Text does too, although that’s proprietary.

@alexl What does “waging war between the poor” mean? Who’s doing this and how are they doing it? Are Element poor? They have at least $30M in VC.

Also, raising awareness is a huge part of what I do. How do you propose we raise awareness without challenging crap like this? How does anything change if we remain quiet?

I’m sorry but, if anything, I’m more confused that before. I don’t understand what you’re criticising and why.

It supports images (both posting and viewing), replies, and HTML/Unicode. Plus it's written in rust, for the hacker cred. Check it out, I'd love to see what machines can talk to it!

I’m reconsidering whether Stripe is the right solution for the initial payments option in Domain (https://codeberg.org/domain/app) or whether it makes more sense (and would be easier for folks who want to run their own Domain instances and become Small Web hosts) if I integrated a Merchant of Record (MoR) solution instead.

I’m sure you’re all riveted to hear my next niche micro-update on finding a payment solution to integrate into #DomainÂč but I’m actually reconsidering #Paddle. The more I think about it, the less custom logic there is in Domain to handle payment providers the better. A very lightweight abstraction over embedding a #payment form and handling #webhooks should make it easier to add others in the future at the cost of more setup in the payment provider itself.

@ff0000 Want to make it as easy as possible but running Domain (to enable the hosting of Small Web sites and apps) will always require some technical knowledge and organisational investment of time and resources (as opposed to running Small Web sites and apps, which should require none).
