Chat with husband about X and its idiotic, megalomaniac proprietor. We both are hardly there and on the rare occasions that we do check in we notice how hollow the communities have become. When I mentioned that somehow a lot of #institutions #libraries #openaccess and #scholcomm folks still hang on, he said: "You know who advertises there a lot? Springer and the other one, Elsevier. Whenever I check my feed, they flood it. I always block them. They are total scum." God, I love this man.

"By 2050 we could end up with 200 million tonnes [of disused solar panels a year] globally." It is crucial to think about the recycling of solar tech as the first generation of panels near the end of their lifespan and good on the BBC for featuring an article on the topic. I just wish they had picked a less loaded headline. I mean, look at it: "Solar panels - an eco-disaster waiting to happen?"
