I’m experimenting with a new email setup (for the imminently-launching Neatnik ID setup) and could really use some help testing email deliverability. If you have a spare moment and would like to test, just send an email to testing@email.engineering with any subject line and any message body.

I’m mostly concerned with ensuring that you receive a reply within 15 seconds, and that the reply winds up in your inbox (not spam/junk).

I didn’t have “start a DNS hosting service” on my 2023 bingo card, yet here I am. And I’m still not 100% sure that I’m going to be able to run this, but I really want to. So I’m giving it my best!

Edited to add: this is aiming to be an "authoritative nameserver" service for DNS hosting, not a resolver service. 🌈

Been thinking about starting a small, fun bootcamp — taking a group of people through the process of registering their own domain name, setting up hosting (using free/cheap options!), and building a simple personal web page/site. 100% inspired by @sophie 🤩

Probably three live sessions: (1) getting the domain and hosting, (2) basic semantic HTML, and (3) styling with CSS.

Open to anyone, but designed for novices. No cost.

Just trying to check interest at this point. Any thoughts?

Huge apologies for the disruption to social.lol over the past ~20 minutes. I was adding a new theme to the web view, and after restarting services Postgres decided that it didn’t want to accept any connections. That’s been sorted out now, but I still feel awful for the disruption. 💔

Another day, another influx of spam! This time they’ve moved onto mastodon.world, so we’ve temporarily limited that instance. Hopefully we’ll see some better tools/protocols to prevent these kinds of annoying DM-based spam attacks sooner than later on Mastodon.

I’m super excited about launching https://rad.dad. :prami_happy: It’s a totally separate thing from omg.lol, so virtually all names are available as of now. And besides being a source for the raddest email addresses and URLs out there, it also opens up opportunities for me to experiment with new features that can be brought over to omg.lol.
