We are reaching a new level of low when words like “revenge” are used when describing the justice system, our political system, presidential candidates, or the citizens of the U.S.
There’s no mystery about what Trump and his supporters want or will do. All we have to do is look at what they have already done to see that Trump and his base have already given up on democracy and any kind of accountability.
Great. Appoint a couple of people who blindly support a guy who stole government secrets (which he confessed to and shipped the evidence that he had done so directly to the government he stole them from) and left them lying around a public country club where literally anyone could see them to the Intelligence committee.
@TonyStark Who would have thought there would be people Speaker Johnson could nominate to the committee that could make current Republican members French Hill, Dan Crenshaw, and Mike Garcia look like reasonable human beings? Perry and Jackson are two of the worst. What, Lauren Boebert didn't have time in her schedule of campaigning not to lose her seat come November?
Bernie Sanders’ taste in people has been questionable, at best.
This is not just “criticism of Israel.” Neither has any of the other hateful things she’s been saying for months. It could only have been better if they’d fired her faster.
Hamas wants to be the new America is an absolutely amazing comment.
“When Hamas is talking about eliminating Israel, it’s not talking about killing all the Jews,” she said, causing fellow panelist Eli Lake to erupt in laughter. She continued, “It’s about eliminating the idea of a Jewish state — ending a Jewish state, ending an ethno-nationalist state and having a state more like what we have in the United States of America.”
@dukepaaron@TonyStark This seems to be a big disconnect for these sorts of people. They think that Hamas is the Rebel Alliance and Israel is the Empire. It’s so astoundingly ignorant and they will die on that hill instead of learning anything from anyone who corrects that erroneous view.
Hillel and Hubbard aren’t “Zionist organizations” and even if they were, that’s not a good reason to try and expunge them from campuses, so I don’t think “rethinking” your language is going to help.
It’s also pretty ironic for the “college is where you air out all your ideas regardless” crowd to try and eliminate one group of people. Unless they’re just antisemites.
@TonyStark They're getting closer to saying what they actually mean, which is "we don't want any Jews on campus." Unless those Jews express the right amount of self-loathing, that is.
@TonyStark I know most of our friends are no longer reading WaPo, but I have my subscription paid through December so I am. It's so bad. They went to the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia this weekend (a festival that attracts young Black people) and interviewed people willing to say Biden is too old and they are either staying home or considering voting for Trump (or RFK Jr). Way to make people think that's how Gen Z in a swing state is voting. Half of them live in New York too, not Pennsylvania.
Why I won’t and don’t support anti-safely, pro-cruelty Republicans and Libertarians being in my government who want to “let the market take care of it”, day 3 in a row.
The Farm Bill is must-pass legislation, so lawmakers often tack on measures like this: devastating legislation that could wipe out years of progress made to help protect animals.
Thanks Sen. Schumer for putting Republicans on record opposing birth control.
Oh, and thanks Republicans for showing that you are out of touch extremists again.
Voters need to take this seriously. If you don't know about Christian nationalists like Lance Wallnau, Gene Bailey, Greg Locke, and others who to take over government to implement their religious beliefs, you should learn fast.
Good for New Jersey and for Andy Kim on his winning the New Jersey US Senate primary.
I'd read about Kim in 2018 and was impressed. He unseated one of the architects of the failed Paul Ryan plan to repeal the ACA.
In the middle of the night after Jan. 6, Kim cleaned up garbage from insurrectionists at the US Capitol. He was acting alone, doing his part. I hope he wins in November.
Giving people some water and/or a granola bar while they’re waiting in a long line to vote isn’t going to sway their choices. Banning it is voter suppression, especially in areas where Republicans try harder and harder to make it difficult for people to vote.
